Basketball Update

Basketball season is underway! The 7th and 8th grade boys are midway through the season; and the 6th grade boys had their first game December 17th. Be sure to check Eventlink for up-to-date schedules, and come out to watch the boys play!

December 3rd, 2019 vs. Lincoln Middle School

Game Info: The Blue Devils welcome the Logansport Berries into the Devils Den by getting out to a 14-8 first quarter lead. Vince Hoover and Nolan Swan combine for 9 second quarter points to take a 23-13 lead into the half. The Blue Devils score 12 in the third, and hold the Berries to just two. The Berries never gave up, winning the fourth quarter in the stat lines. However, it was the Blue Devils who end up on top 44-31.

Top Performer(s): Three Blue Devils added double digit scoring in this effort; Nolan Swan (14), Jackson Money (13), and Vince Hoover (13)

December 5th, 2019 @Tri-Central

Game Info: Vince Hoover and Nolan Swan led the Blue Devils in a one-sided matchup with the Tri-Central Trojans. 30 of the Blue Devils 44 total points were scored in the first half; while limiting the Trojans to just 25 points.

Top Performer: Vince Hoover had his best game of the year, scoring 23 points; 16 of those in the first half.

December 11th, 2019 vs. Clinton Central

Game Info: The Blue Devils went off for 30 points in the first half, while showing up defensively; holding the Bulldogs to just 6 first half points. While the offense for Tipton slowed in the second half, the defense remained at a high level. Final Score: 49-12, Blue Devils

Top Performer(s): Nolan Swan (19) and Vince Hoover (12) finished the game in double figures.

December 12th, 2019 vs Lewis Cass (MIC Prelims)

Game Info: The Blue Devils drew a first-round home matchup with the Lewis Cass Kings. The winner was added to the MIC championship bracket on Saturday at NorthWestern. The Blue Devils and Cass had a great first half battle, with Tipton going into the half up, 15-12. Cass came out firing, outscoring the Devils 18-10 in the third before taking over the game in the fourth. Final score: 45-32, Blue Devils advance to the MIC Championship Saturday.

Top Performer: Vince Hoover (13), Jackson Money (13), and Nolan Swan (12) all scored in double figures.

December 14th, 2019 vs. Kokomo (MIC Tourney)

Game Info: This one was a heart breaker. The Blue Devils faced Kokomo in a semi-final matchup early on Saturday. The boys in blue battled like crazy, and led the majority of the game. The Blue Devls had a 17-16 half time lead, and won the third quarter. However, similar to the early season matchup at Tipton, the Kokomo Kats battled in the fourth. Kokomo took a one-point lead with less than 10 seconds on the clock, and the Blue Devils didn't have the time for another score. Final score: 36-37, Kats.

Top Performer: Nolan Swan(14) and Jackson Money(12) both finished in double figures.

December 17th, 2019 vs Frankfort

Game Info: Tipton faced a tough Frankfort to Dog team in Tipton. Both teams were evenly matched with Tipton taking a 16-15 halftime lead. The Dogs came to play, winning both quarters in the second half. Final Score: 38-44, Hot Dogs.

Top Performer: Nolan Swan scored 13 points, including 3-three point baskets.

The "B" game was a one-sided affair, with the Blue Devils laying in on the Hot Dogs in two quarters of play. Final Score: 23-7, Blue Devils. Stetson Newcom led all scorers with 13 points.

December 19th, 2019 vs. Elwood

Game Info: In a battle with our easterly neighbors, the Blue Devils brought there best game and handed it to Elwood. The 8th graders held Elwood to 8 first-half points, and only 3 in the second. Final Score: 51-11

Top Performer(s): Vince Hoover dominated down low and went 3-for-4 at the free throw line to drop 21 points. Jackson Money added 11 points.

December 2nd, 2019 @ Sheridan

Game Info: In a game with the Blackhawks, the Blue Devils took a 17-11 halftime lead, and a strong defensive second half to a 32-19 win in Sheridan. Of note, the Blue Devil defense held Sheridan to zero third quarter points.

Top Performer: Grady Carpenter led all scorers with 16 points.

December 3, 2019 vs. Lincoln Middle School

Game Info: Logansport made the trip into the Devils Den to face off with the Blue Devils. The Devils started with a strong 14-point first quarter and end the half with a 22-16 lead. The second half was a battle of wills as both teams played tough, physical defense. The Blue Devils used a final fourth-quarter push to secure the win, 38-31.

Top Performer: Grady Carpenter finished with 15 points; Landon Spidel chipped in 12 points.

December 5th, 2019 @ Tri-Central

Game Info: The Blue Devils made the short trip northwest to visit the Tri-Central Trojans. At the half, the Devils held a 35-9 lead and finished with the "W'. Final Score: 56-16.

Top Performer(s): Grady Carpenter led all scorers with 12 points.

December 11, 2019 vs. Clinton Central

Game Info: The Lue Devils scored by quarter 23, 14, 18, 12 to lead to a rout of the Bulldogs. They were also defensive juggernauts holding Clinton Central to just 12 points. Final Score: 67-12

Top Performers: Grady Carpenter led all scorers with 18 points. 13 different Blue Devils added points.

December 12, 2019 vs. Lewis Cass (MIC Prelims)

Game Info: Tonight's game is a big one! The winner will help fill the bracket for the Saturday MIC championship. The Blue Devils used a strong first half performance to build a 30-8 halftime lead. The second half was a different story, with Lewis Cass slowing down the Blue Devil offense holding them to just 16 second half points. However, the Kings were only able to score 18 of their own second half points. Final Score: 46-26, Blue Devils.

Top Performers: Grady Carpenter (13) and Landon Spidel (14) both finish in double figures.

December 14, 2019 vs. Logansport (MIC Championships)

Game Info: The Blue Devils were one of you teams that won their play-in games earlier in the week. This game was a back-and-forth game; with both teams playing with a lot of effort and heart. Tipton held a 13-11 lead at the half, but fell behind early in the second half; finishing the third down 15-21. Unfortunately, not enough shots fell for the Blue Devils. Final Score: 25-21, Berries.

Top Performer: Oliver Conaway finishes with 7 points to lead all Blue Devils.

December 17, 2019 @ Frankfort Middle School

Game Info: The Blue Devils traveled to Frankfort to play the Hot Dogs. They took a lead into halftime, and finished the game with the "W"; 34-29.

Top Performer:Landon Spidel led all scorers with 14 points.

"B" Game: The Blue Devils used balanced scoring to take a lead into the half. They finish with a 27-17 win over the Hot Dogs. Sam Humrichous led all scorers with 12 points.

December 19th, 2019 vs. Elwood

Game Info:This was a one-sided affair as the Blue Devils found themselves in the paint early and often. Grady Carpenter ended the first harlequin's with a game high 11 points. The Devils worked all players in the game, and finished the game on top with a final score of 63-18.

Top Performer(s): 11 Blue Devil players finished with at least 2 points.

December 17, 2019 vs. Alexandria

Game Info: What a great opening game! The 6th grade Blue Devils ended the first half tied with the Tigers 13-13. Going in to the fourth, our boys in blue fell behind double digits. They battled their hearts out, and used a full-court press to make it interesting. For a while, the crowd was bought in to the comeback. To their credit, Alexandria sank a few shots, and made their free throws to finish ahead, 37-31. This will be a fun group to watch all year!

Top Performers: Evan Coe led all scorers with 11 points; hitting two threes in the final quarter to help the cause.

The "B" team squad came out on fire on both ends of the floor! The Blue Devils held the Tigers scoreless in the 2nd and 3rd quarters, and only allowed one opposing player to score. Final score 31-4

Top Performers: All players scored for Tipton, led by Chace Hussey and Noah Walker with 6 a piece.


Josie Butler

Josie competed in the Indiana Judges Cup and qualified to represent Indiana at the National Judges Cup in Santa Clara, CA in January. The state teams are comprised of the top 6 All-Around scores (total of vault, bars, beam, and floor scores) of all Level 7 gymnasts age groups combined. This is a huge honor and accomplishment, we are so proud of her hard work and dedication.

Fundraising Raffle

During home games in January and February, the athletic department will sell raffle tickets as a fundraiser to support our various programs. Below are the prizes that will be raffled off at the Teacher vs. Staff game (Date to be announced). You do not have to be present to win!

- One of two quilts made with vintage TMS uniforms (Pictures Below)

- Two Lower-level tickets to a Pacers game (vs. Phoenix Suns in March)

- Several passes for free entry into an athletic event.

Raffle tickets are $2 each or 3 tickets for $5. You will write all contact information on your tickets.

If you would like raffle tickets, and do not attend games, you may purchase tickets in the middle school office by stopping by during office hours, or send money in a marked envelope with your name, phone number, and how many tickets you would like to purchase.
