Here Marcus can be seen with Mohammad Gulab. Mohammad saved Luttrell's life by taking him in and giving him food and shelter. Mohammad risked his life for following a code of honor known as Pashtunwali. This is tribal honor code has been followed for centuries and says that Pashtuns must help a guest who comes into their village, even if he is in need or in imminent danger. They must protect him. In Marcus's case, Mohammad was facing great danger by protecting him against the Taliban.
