Dooley Family Updates
Thank you to those families have been supporting our Dynamic Dooley PTA with our Catalogue Fundraiser and donations through the Check Writing Campaign to help our school obtain Chromebooks and ipads for our classrooms as well as upgrading our marquee to a digital one! Being able to increase the electronic devices we have in each classroom will allow our teachers and students to engage in developing more 21st Century skills while being guided by responsible digital citizenship. We are thankful for all the support you provide, whether it is your time dedicated to volunteerism or monetary donations.
We hope you have touched based with your child's teacher and have already met for a progress update at a Parent/Teacher Conference.

PTA News at your fingertips!
Hygiene Kit Drive
Dooley Elementary PTA invites you to join the Plano Council of PTA in the 5th Annual Hygiene Kit Drive.
Did you know that 29% of all Plano ISD students are currently experiencing poverty?
When the physical needs of children are not met, they have difficulty learning and being successful in school. We can help these students.
In collaboration with other PISD schools, the goal is to complete 1,200 hygiene kits -full size kits to take home and travel kits for 5th grade Adventure Camp. With everyone’s participation, we can do this!
Our school counselor, Ramona Cartwright, and Nurse Gail will have the opportunity to speak with the students on the importance of these items and how these necessities promote living in a healthy environment.
Donations from Dooley students are available from now through Thursday, November 3rd and are placed in the box outside our our clinic.

School Based Improvement Committee
A School Based Improvement Committee (SBIC) is established at each campus to assist the principal. The committee serves in an advisory role. In the role, the committee is involved in goal setting, campus educational planning, and performance objectives. The committee also helps in developing, reviewing, and revising the campus plan.
Our committee consists of staff members, District level personnel, parents, community members (residents of the District, but not parents of students), and business representatives.
Parent membership includes a PTA representative, one parent appointed by the principal, and four parents determined by a random drawing from among volunteers. Members serve for a one or two year term. There are vacancies to fill for the 2016-2017 school year.
If you are willing to serve Dooley as a member of the SBIC committee, please email Tramy Tran, at tramy.tran@pisd.edu. The committee meets three times a year from 3-4p.m. Our tentative dates for this year are:
Wednesday, Oct. 6th 3:15
Monday, January 30th 3:15
Monday, June 5th 3:15
We look forward to a very successful year ahead and anticipate your participation as a member of our Dooley family community.
Drug and Alcohol Prevention Information: “Did You Know”
Cigarettes/E Cigs
Did you know…In 2015, approximately 24% of students under age 18 reported using electronic cigarettes or e cigs? These devices are made to look like real cigarettes and use flavored liquids that can produce little to no smoke. Students may refer to using an ecig as “vaping.”
See what the American Lung Association has to say concerning e-cigarettes.

Golden Tickets -- Supporting the Social/Emotional Growth of our Dragons:
Mrs. Ordonez and I recognize respectful Dooley Students on morning announcements daily when they are given a "Golden Ticket" by their classroom teacher or staff member. Students earn the "Golden Ticket" when they follow the Golden Manner Rules demonstrating:
- Respect and good manners at all times
- Care for everyone and everything
- Following directions with thought and care
This has been a great way of recognizing a well-rounded student and highlighting the positive behaviors that lead towards being a life-long leader and learner. Be on the lookout for a “Golden Ticket” in your child’s take home folder.
Safety and Security:
We appreciate the efforts you’ve made as we continue to create the safest environment for our Dragons as they enter and leave the campus. Please continue to follow our campus policy for arrival and dismissal to ensure the safety and security for all Dooley Families. More detailed information is found in the Dooley Parent Handbook provided to you at the beginning of the year.
Arrival:
- Early Bird Drop-off is at the back of the campus from 7-7:20 a.m. for all students desiring an early start and quick access to breakfast.
- From 7:20 to 7:45, arrival takes place at the front of the school. Parents who desire to enter the building to have breakfast with your child should enter through the front office to obtain a visitor's badge obtained with a government issued ID. Breakfast is served until 7:35 to allow students adequate time to eat and get to class by 7:45 a.m.
- Student’s day begins at 7:45 a.m. Arrival after 7:45 a.m. is considered tardy. Excessive tardies (greater than 10, may result in a truancy filing).
Dismissal:
- Please have your Blue Dismissal card visible in your car on your front dash from when your child is called to when your child enters your car. This helps with an expedient loading of your child.
- Please respect the flow of traffic by helping to move any booster seats to the right passenger side so that our Safety Patrol and staff do not have to enter the traffic flow to open the door on the side opposite of the loading curb.
- Should your child not be able, yet, to fasten their seat belts independently, please pull over to the left hand lane/parking area, so that you may stop your car to help your child safely secure their safety belts. This helps us maintain the flow of traffic for all of our Dooley Families.
Spirit Wear:
We’ve got spirit yes we do, we’ve got spirit, how about you? If you haven’t had a chance to purchase your spirit wear, it’s not too late. Please contact PTA through this link. Following is our Dress-Up Days for the week:
- Mondays - AVID, College, Armstrong, McMillan, PESH Tees
- Wednesdays- Athletic Wear as we promote Walking to School on Wednesdays and/or committing to walking around the lake.
- Fridays - Dooley Spirit Tees
Dress Code:
The school year has kicked in and it still feels like summer, so shorts and tanks are in; however, all students must follow district policy on dress code. Please review the following link. Should a student not be in compliance with dress code, they will be sent to Counselor Cartwright for a change of clothes and/or parent will be contacted to have the option to bring a change of clothes. We want to make sure our students are comfortable and have their personal style within the district policy.
