Next Week at SBHS
September 11, 2020
Dr. Eric Williams, LCPS Superintendent, has released the Equity Statement below for our school division. Stone Bridge is reprinting the statement in our weekly newsletter to ensure all families see this important information.
LCPS is committed to providing a safe, empathetic, respectful and supportive learning environment in order to empower every student to make meaningful contributions to the world. When students and staff experience racial insults, slurs, and/or other hate speech, we lack the positive culture and climate that supports students’ growth.
LCPS calls for all students, staff, families, and other members of our community to engage in the disruption and dismantling of white supremacy, systemic racism, and hateful language and actions based on race, religion, country of origin, gender identity, sexual orientation, and/or ability. LCPS rejects racist and other hateful behavior and language, recognizing that it encourages discrimination, hatred, oppression, and violence.
Every individual is valued in Loudoun County Public Schools. Let’s celebrate the diversity that helps define us as a school division.
Eric Williams, Ed.D.
Division Superintendent
Upcoming Events
Monday Textbook Distribution, 1-4 PM
On Monday, September 14th, from 1-4 PM we will have a second textbook distribution day. Only some classes are passing out materials; please review the textbook list to see if your child has books, instruments, or other materials to pick up. Students can also checkout Library books for pickup using this Book Request Form. All attendees are required to wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines.
Anyone who still has Library books, textbooks, or other materials from last year is welcome to drop them off during this event or in the Main Office at any time.
Asynchronous Mondays & Attendance
On Mondays, students will not have live classes to attend. Instead, they should work on homework, projects, and assessments as assigned by their teachers. Teachers will schedule office hours for student support with their individual classes and students. If your child needs additional help, please encourage them to reach out to their teacher or counselor to set up an appointment.
In order to capture student attendance accurately, each student must open a Permission Click form that will be sent to their LCPS email account on Monday, September 14th. They will need to respond to the reflective questions before 1:00 PM on Monday; students who do not respond will be counted absent. Thank you for helping us to capture your student’s attendance on Monday.
Tuesday PTSO Meeting, 7 PM
We hope that you will join us for the SBHS PTSO Meeting - Tuesday, September 15th, from 7-8pm on Zoom.
