NMEC: The Scoop from the Coop
From the Desk of Cherie Stobie, Co-op Director
We are off to a great start with our virtual PLCs, which meet quarterly by grade band and area. Although the groups were relatively small for round one, we had powerful connections and are looking forward to continued collaboration.
It isn't too late to join in, even if the first quarter's meeting has already taken place. The 2nd round will focus on sharing lessons and resources with each other. See the attached flyer for more info. and register on PIRnet.
On-Site Coaching:
If you would love some one-on-one support when I do my monthly on-site coaching, please let your administrator know, so we can work you into the schedule.
Some of the ways I am supporting teachers are: classroom management ideas, understanding standards, group instructional improvement efforts, analyzing student data to plan for instruction, engagement strategies, organizational systems, and general topics for new teachers.
Professional Development:
Don't forget the Teacher Learning Hub for FREE self-paced or guided Professional Development. Just go to opi.mt.gov and search Teacher Learning Hub to get started. There are new courses that have been developed to help you with integrating the newly adopted standards areas.
If you have an area you would like to see offered through the co-op or you are able to offer training to colleagues in your area(s) of expertise, please contact Beth at 752-3302 or office@nwmtcoop.org and we will see what we can do for you!
Computer Science Curriculum Committee:
Our first meeting of the Computer Science committee went very well. The group worked hard to fully understand the standards and will be sharing some of the work they did with their respective colleagues.
We look forward to our March 10th meeting, when we will be finalizing some resources and recommendations to share with our districts.
If you teach computer science at any grade level, and most of you should be, please get familiar with the Model Curriculum Guide (attached) and seek our your school's representative with any questions you have that they can either answer or forward to our committee for consideration.
How do I register for events on PIRnet?
This 3 min. tutorial will help you get started with PIR Net and help you navigate your account.
