October Happenings

October was Digital Citizenship Week. We talked all week about how we can be safe online an how we should not share our passwords. All grade levels spent time discussing ways to be safe online. We are great Digital Citizens at Longbranch. Kindergarten and First Grade spent time learning about pumpkins and fall leaves. We read Leafman by Lois Ehlert and talked about all the fun leaves she used in the book. We also read pumpkin books and reviewed the Pumpkin Life Cycle. We talked about Fire Safety and inventions as well .

Second through Fifth grade students spent time improving our reading skills. We read books and then talked about inferencing, story elements, and sequencing.

Book Fair was a huge success! Lots of books were bought so we can share the love of reading!

Reading should not be presented to children as a chore or duty. It should be offered to them as a precious gift. —Kate DiCamillo
