Literacy Corner

This week we introduced the students to the word wall word "to". We also completed our fast track introduction to the Letterland characters, all letters. During our reading lessons we talked about how we are all alike and different in relations to ourselves and family. We have really enjoyed looking at our family pictures displayed in the classroom. What a wonderful extended classroom family we have!!! While reading we continue to learn about the parts of a book. This week we also began to dig deeper into books by talking about characters and whether the books are fiction or nonfiction.

Fun Home Activity: To conclude conclude our unit on "All About Me" I would like for the students to complete the "All About Me" activity on abcya.com with you. The students can do it on the iPad or the computer. They will get to tell all about themselves, creating a poster for us to hang up outside the classroom. Please do not put your child's last name. You can email me your child's poster or print it out at home. Please print in color. Thank you! I did one, as well. You can see my "All About Me" poster above.

Next week we learning two new word wall words and begin learning about all Letterland characters more in-depth. We will be gin our unit on fall and our five senses.

Math Lab

We continued to work with numbers. Please work on counting to 25 and identifying and writing numbers 0-9.

Next week we will continue to work on numbers and introduce the students to flat shapes.

Parental FYI...

Please remember to send in your child's snack money. We have a snack in class daily. We ask that you not send in extra snacks. We ask that you pay for it monthly ($8), quarterly ($18) or yearly ($72) to help use our time more for instruction.

If you have not already done so, please send in a family picture of your child wi their family. We like to share and bring our family pictures in to our class family so we will have a little bit of home here. Please send a picture that is no bigger than 5x7. You may send it in in a picture frame, if you would like. They will be returned at the end of the year.

If your child is a lunch boxer, please send items that your child is able to open on their own. If they like foods that they are unable to open, we will teach them how to open them independently. Please practice opening the items at home, as well.

It is pretty cold in our school and classroom. Please send a jacket with your child for when they get chilly. Also, we allow the students to have water bottles at their seats. Feel free to send in a water bottle for your child. Please make sure the bottles have water only.
