THURSDAY, OCTOBER 14TH - 8-4 PM
What makes the difference in how your child performs in school? The answer might surprise you. It’s not your child’s IQ, the teacher, the school, or your educational level. Although all of these play a part, study after study tells the same story. Children who do best in school have parents who are actively involved in their child’s education. One of the best ways to get involved is to continue building a strong parent-teacher partnership.
I ask that you come prepared to your communication conference with questions and information that will help both you and the teacher strengthen the team effort you share educating your child.
We look forward to seeing all of you during conferences!

The Halloween parade and parties will take place on October 29th. Weather permitting the parade will take place outside at 2PM on the track. If the weather does not cooperate the children will parade through the hallways and into the gym. Class parties will begin following the parade.
Every Wednesday we will end the school day at 3:00 pm instead of 3:30 pm. This gives our teachers throughout the District collaboration time by attending weekly professional learning communities. Please plan accordingly to pick your child up at 3PM.
2022 Battle of the Books
Mark your calendars to join us for the 2022 Battle of the Books on March 19, 2022 at Westside Middle School! This annual Westside district tradition provides an opportunity for teams of 3-5 students in 4th-6th grade to participate in a quiz bowl-style competition where they answer questions based on content from the 2021-2022 Golden Sower nominees.

Westside families -
We are encountering problems at our Varsity Football Games at Westside High School involving our students. Specifically, we have noticed an increasing number of elementary and/or middle school students unaccompanied and/or unsupervised during and after games. This last week, our staff and security noted a group of younger students together in our parking lot more than 30 minutes after the stands had emptied; needless to say, it was concerning to see a group of 10-13 year olds, alone, at 10pm on a Friday night.
This is creating safety concerns, as well as crowd control and behavioral issues for our security, staff members, and other students and families. While we encourage our younger students to attend games, whether football, softball, basketball, etc., we remind you they must be accompanied and supervised by an adult. In addition, we remind all students they are expected to sit/stay in the stands to watch the game and not congregate near concession stands and restrooms.
Thank you for your support in helping Westside High to be a welcoming and safe place for all of our fans, student athletes and visitors.

Please make sure your child is wearing appropriate clothing in the morning. Sweatshirts, fleeces, and lightweight jackets are easy to keep in a backpack in case of cooler temperatures at recess time.
