We are Learning
Reading
This week, we continued to learn about fairy tales. We focused on various versions of Hansel and Gretel. We also learned that different books are written from different perspectives. We learned what that word mean and even discussed the differences between first and third person. Ask your child who's prospective in the version called Trust Me, Hansel and Gretel are Sweet!
Writing
Math
This week we jumped into geometry. We learned some new math vocabulary words. They were edges, vertices, and faces. We discussed the differences between 2D and 3D shapes and practiced naming the various shapes we know. (For example: triangle, quadrilateral, pentagon, hexagon, etc) We also began learning about various types of lines. We will continue learning about types of lines as well as angles next week!
Plant Project and BEES!!!
This week, we learned about the importance of bees. We began by debunking some myths we've heard about bees. We watched videos and read books to learn just as much as we could about these little insects that our world NEEDS. We wrapped up our week with having Kate Franzman a beekeeper with Public Greens in to share her expertise with us. Ask your child what he/she learned!
