Principal's Corner
Our students had a great time at our annual staff vs. student basketball game that occurred Friday, March 18 before spring break! Over $2500 was raised to support student activities and fund our PTO's senior scholarships. Thank you for supporting our activities and special events at the Ninth Grade Center by allowing your child to attend!
Our students are also finishing up meeting with their 10-12 counselors at the high school to plan their 10th Grade schedules. This is the culmination of a year long process our 9th Grade Counselors have led, that included career exploration and elective options at Ben Davis High School. This work is done in conjunction with our Planning for College and Career Success class and has given our students a great 4 year plan that maps out their high school career. One other tool that helped in this process is a program Wayne Township has invested in called Naviance. Naviance is a web based program that provides amazing resources for students and parents to plan for college and build the resources needed to successfully navigate the application and post secondary selection process. As your student moves through grades 10-12 this will become a very valuable resource! Please don't hesitate to call your student's counselor if you have questions.
We are excited to be able to offer late buses Monday-Thursday from April 4-June 1. The late buses allow students to stay after for study tables and prepare for final exams. We traditionally have a large number of students take advantage of this and we want to have a great turnout! Study tables will be held on all academies from 3:30 - 5:00pm. Students will receive dinner at 4:45, then load buses and depart from the high school parking lot at 5:00 pm. In order for students to ride the late bus, they must stay with a teacher, obtain a late bus pass, and be supervised from 3:30-5:00. Thank you for your support and we look forward to a great end to the school year here at BDNGC!
