** NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 5 **
Principal's Message: Welcome Back!!!
We are four days in and the students (and staff) are back in school mode. We've had a great first week of school and are excited for a wonderful year ahead. Teachers have spent much of the first week reviewing expectations, establishing classroom rules, and building trusting relationships in the classroom. On Wednesday afternoon a 6th Grade student came up to me and asked, "When are we going to start learning?". What a great question and what I told that student back was, "Good news! You have been learning." We find it essential to teach rules and procedures at the beginning of the year. What may seem mundane and "should know" can not be assumed. We find the more we can front load the beginning of the year with such activities the smoother the rest of the year will go to maximize student learning and positive social-emotional growth.
I want to repeat how exciting we are for the school year and the excitement and optimism this year's students have brought to our building. We thank you for trusting us with your children.

Communicating With Your Child
Parents are allowed to leave messages for students. This can be done by contacting the Main Office or Attendance Office. With that said, we try to limit the amount of disruptions during the school day. All calls over the intercom are only made during morning and afternoon announcements. We would appreciate as much advanced notice as possible. It often proves challenging getting a message to a student immediately or when a parent is out front and calls for their child to be dismissed. We would appreciate as much notice as possible.
If your child is sick we ask them to visit our Clinic before contacting parents. Our clinic will do a check of the child and follow-up with parents when needed and jointly will make a plan of next steps for students. We ask for your cooperation in helping reinforce this with your child.
