Back to School Info

Next week, some of our Lakeview students will return on Monday. Some will return on Wednesday. Some will remain virtual. This is a unique year, but this feels like a good start to 2021 (at least school-wise).

For students returning to in-person learning, please be sure you have reviewed the newsletter sent on Wednesday about schedules, safety, and routines. Watch the videos and discuss with your students, please.

Boots and Snowpants

Please remember to send boots and snowpants if your child is hoping to play in the snow. Students must have both boots and snowpants to leave the blacktop area during recess.

Specials during Hybrid Weeks

Please note that your student will still attend live art, music, gym, library, and Social-Emotional Learning classes during hybrid learning. Please see communication from your students' classroom teacher about how and when to attend these classes. Students will need to log on from home on asynchronous days to attend these classes.

Lakeview Virtual BINGO!

The Lakeview PTO has organized a virtual BINGO night for students and families! We all need a chance to connect and build community in these unique times. There will be prizes as well!

Thursday, January 21

6:30-7:15 p.m.

Join us using this Zoom link

The Zoom link will also be posted on the Lakeview website and shared by teachers. We will send home 4 BINGO cards with every student next week so you can play along. All you will need is something to mark your cards (pencil, crayon, beans - anything!) If you are a virtual student, feel free to print off a BINGO card at home or help your student make one. You may also contact us and we will make sure to get you cards so everyone can play along!

ROAR Awards

Do you have a Lakeview staff member that you would like to nominate for a ROAR Award? Our PTO graciously recognizes staff members that you nominate and one of the nominations each month receives a gift certificate. Your kind words mean a lot to our staff, so please use this link to submit a ROAR Award.

Learn about reading and writing

Lakeview uses a very recognized curriculum for reading and writing from Columbia University in New York called Units of Study. The creators of this program often host online sessions. Here is a link to free sessions for families on Thursday, January 28 from Noon-2pm. There are many mini-sessions to learn about literacy, how to help your child at home with reading, and how your child's school teaching reading and writing. (Please note the website says 1-3pm eastern time.)

Library Wifi

The South Milwaukee Public Library has upgraded its wifi. The entire parking lot of the public library also has free wifi available now.
