Course Selection for 2023-2024 School Year to Begin This Week
- 7th Graders going into the 8th Grade: Wednesday, March 8, 2023 during 6th Period
- 6th Graders going into the 7th Grade: Thursday, March 9, 2023 during 3rd Period
- 5th Graders going into the 6th Grade: Friday, March 10, 2023 during 2nd Period
Students will meet and review the course descriptions with the faculty before selecting their TOP FOUR elective choices. Once completed, the students will bring home a course selection sheet to review and sign approving the elective choices. All students are required to take Math, English Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and P.E. in the state of Alabama through the 8th grade.
We will travel to West Jefferson in the week ahead to meet with 6th Graders coming to our school in the fall. The fourth grade at Bagley will be coming to visit with us to prepare for their fifth grade year after state testing is complete in April.

CMS Band Explores The Planets with Alabama Symphony Orchestra
Corner Middle School band directors, Debra Saunders, took members of the CMS band to listen to Gustav Holst's The Planets -- performed by the Alabama Symphony Orchestra in their monthly "Coffee Concert" last week at the Alys Stephens Center at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Under the direction of conductor, Carlo Iscaray, the ASO (as well as the ASO Chorus under the direction of Dr. Philip L Copeland) performed the set that offered a musically "spellbinding picture of the earth's celestial neighbors."
The students had an eagle-eye view of the symphony in action during the performance. A great time immersed in sound of the ASO was had by all. If you'd like to listen to the full suite of Holst's The Planets, click on the link below:
