ALPINE UNION THE DESTINATION SCHOOL DISTRICT OF EAST COUNTY!
JMMS RISING UP PEER-COACHING BEGINS
Building Relationships and Understanding Self - students are supported in developing insight that will enable them to better cope with change and challenges in their relationships with others.
Decision-Making and Goal Setting - students learn strategies about how to set goals, make decisions, and how to deal with barriers that stand in their way.
Career and Family Exploration - students analyze their own career maps that lead to a better understanding of how personal interests lead to careers or life-role aspirations.
Choices and Consequences - students explore their ability to be in control of their choices and learn to think about the ramifications (positive and negative) of those choices.
Overcoming Adversity and Building Resilience - students are encouraged to build support networks and an understanding that we can recover from life’s setbacks.
Throughout this series the mentors and students will work together to better understand themselves and their connection to JMMS and the Alpine community. The Rising Up materials are the next step in our TEEN TRUTH campus culture training.

Camp dates, campus locations and costs will be announced March 5th. Registration will open online on March 12th. Camp information will be posted at https://aef4kids.org/ready-break-summer-camps-2018. Any questions can be directed to readybreak@aef4kids.net.
ENROLLMENT LETTERS FOR 2018-19 SCHOOL YEAR
We are proactively working on planning for the 2018-19 school year. Enrollment confirmation letters have been sent home to all parents. Letters should be returned as soon as possible. This information is critical to making sound decisions. As a small District, small fluctuations in enrollment have a huge impact on the budget and staffing decisions.

6th GRADE CAMP
We can't wait to hear all about it.
Did you know it's more than just hiking and camp fires. Our 6th graders experience a curriculum designed by credentialed teachers to take full advantage of the Next Generation Science Standards. Lessons incorporate trail experiences and citizen scientist projects to create hands-on learning that is meaningful, memorable, and fun. For many students, the weeklong, overnight experience is their first trip away from home and transforms how they feel about science and themselves as learners.
