Promesa Family Update
November 21st, 2021
Dear Promesa Families,
As we launched into Fall Break on Friday, our staff spent the afternoon together with a beautiful potluck lunch. Together, we reflected on what we were grateful for and overwhelmingly, our staff shared that they were grateful for the culture of love and connection that we have at Promesa. It was a perfect way to launch into our Fall Break, with our hearts full of gratitude and love for our students, for all of our families, and for each other. We hope that you all enjoy this time off and we look forward to seeing your children back in school on Monday, November 29th.
We are also happy to announce that we've had no new COVID positive cases on campus after Friday's testing with Community Labs.
Here are some reminders and updates for this week:
1) Upcoming Events: Here is a list of upcoming events:
a. Winter Spirit Week: Our winter spirit week will run from December 13th-17th. Here is a list of days for our winter spirit week:
i) Monday, Dec. 13th: Christmas Sock Day - Wear your favorite winter socks!
ii) Tuesday, Dec. 14th: Santa's Helpers Day - Dress up like Santa's Helpers (e.g. an elf or reindeer!)

2) Winter Showcase: On Wednesday, December 15th, we will be inviting families to the school for our winter showcase! During this time, our musical theater club will be putting on a winter show and families will have the opportunity to walk through classes and the hallways to see student work. We hope you can join us for this event!
3) School Photos: Our photographer is working on editing and organizing the photos we took last week! As soon as they are ready, we will be sending out an order link to families.
4) 2nd and 3rd Grade Field Trip: Our 2nd and 3rd graders will be going on a field trip to the Natural Caverns on Thursday, December 16th! Paper field trip forms were sent home, but you can also find an electronic field trip form here. Additionally, if you would like to sign up to chaperone for the event, please express your interest in doing so using this form. Selected chaperones will be notified no later than Friday, December 3rd.
5) Math Problem of the Week/Math During the Break: Every week, Ms. Dibrell, our math interventionist, places a math problem of the week in take-home folders. For the winter break, Ms. Dibrell created this update for our families on what you can work on with your children. Congratulations to last week's mathematicians who successfully solved the problem of the week:
* Byron M. - 3rd grade
* Gabriella M. - 1st grade
* Gannabella M. - 3rd grade
* Isabella F> - 3rd grade
* Maximoz E. - 3rd grade
