-Are you responsible?
I believe I am responsible and irresponsible at the same time. I am responsible because I do my homework without being asked . I am irresponsible because my mom has to tell me to do my chores at home.
-Are you respectful?
I am respectful because I show my teachers my utmost respect all the time even if I’m angry.
-Do you plan ahead?
Most of the time I’m a procrastinator, but I do get my work done even if it means I have to stay up all night and not go to a basketball game that I wanna go to.
-Do you have a good attitude?
Sometimes I have a bad attitude if I feel like I’m being disrespected by one of my peers, but otherwise I have a good attitude towards others.
-Are you a problem solver?
I don’t think I’m a problem solver because I have a short temper.
-Do you listen to others?
I do listen to others, but if I disagree with what they’re saying, then I will tell them.
-Do you try your best in everything?
I believe I try my best in everything because I feel like if I don’t succeed in something then I will be disappointed in myself.
Dear Alex and Peyton:
I would like advice on… how to stop failing at everything. I am bad at mostly everything. It bothers me that I do things wrong that are common tasks for everyone else.
First thing first, don’t worry about what others do. Everyone is different. Don’t feel like you are a failure or that you can’t do anything right. Because in real life nobody’s perfect. Maybe things that you CAN do, other people CAN’T. All you have to do is try, try again and try harder. Put effort in and the payback will come. Perfect people aren’t real, and real people aren’t perfect. Always remember that. :)
I would like advice on… how to deal with drama.
Uggghhh drama. We know what you mean. The best way to deal with drama is stop it. Either you apologize or just drop it. Now the best was to avoid drama is to stay out of people's business and just DON'T GET INVOLVED. Dont talk behind people’s back, don't give dirty looks, and don't do anything that you will regret later.
I would like advice on… dealing with bullies. When you know they are talking about you but you don’t say anything because you're afraid you might get in trouble.
If someone is bullying you, the best thing to do is tell someone about it, whether it’s a Peer Helper, your teacher, or your parents. Usually, when someone is bullying someone else, the bully is actually insecure about themselves and they take out their anger on someone else. If you think the bully is talking about you, just ignore it. Don’t even acknowledge them. If you tell someone about it and ignore the bully, they will eventually leave you alone.
I would like advice on… arguments. My family and cousins are currently in a fight. We have already apologized for everything we did, but they aren’t willing to apologize. What can we do?
- Sometimes people need time to work out arguments. Depending on what the argument was about, some can take longer than others. Arguments don’t go away overnight. Try not to keep bothering them about apologizing, because eventually they will apologize. Once they own up to their side of the situation, things will get better. They can’t stay mad forever, they’re family. Try not to worry about it so much and eventually, things will solve themselves out.

Once upon a time a daughter complained to her father that her life was miserable and that she didn’t know how she was going to make it. She was tired of fighting and struggling all the time. It seemed just as one problem was solved, another one soon followed.
Her father, a chef, took her to the kitchen. He filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Once the three pots began to boil, he placed potatoes in one pot, eggs in the second pot, and ground coffee beans in the third pot.
He then let them sit and boil, without saying a word to his daughter. The daughter, moaned and impatiently waited, wondering what he was doing.
After twenty minutes he turned off the burners. He took the potatoes out of the pot and placed them in a bowl. He pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl.
He then ladled the coffee out and placed it in a cup. Turning to her he asked. “Daughter, what do you see?”
“Potatoes, eggs, and coffee,” she hastily replied.
“Look closer,” he said, “and touch the potatoes.” She did and noted that they were soft. He then asked her to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard-boiled egg. Finally, he asked her to sip the coffee. Its rich aroma brought a smile to her face.
“Father, what does this mean?” she asked.
He then explained that the potatoes, the eggs and coffee beans had each faced the same adversity– the boiling water.
However, each one reacted differently.
The potato went in strong, hard, and unrelenting, but in boiling water, it became soft and weak.
The egg was fragile, with the thin outer shell protecting its liquid interior until it was put in the boiling water. Then the inside of the egg became hard.
However, the ground coffee beans were unique. After they were exposed to the boiling water, they changed the water and created something new.
“Which are you,” he asked his daughter. “When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a potato, an egg, or a coffee bean? “
Moral:In life, things happen around us, things happen to us, but the only thing that truly matters is what happens within us.
Which one are you?
