Gables Weekly Summary

Asynchronous Learning at Home - Wellness Week is first and foremost a mental break for everyone - including families and students. Students are always learning (even when they don't want to!). Teachers will indicate what documentation is required to demonstrate their learning during Wellness Week. Assignments will vary by class - it could be a paper packet, assignments on Clever.com, or a sharing project once they return to class.

Word of the Month: Cooperation

Cooperation is when two or more students work together to achieve a goal by taking turns and sharing.

Did you know that each teacher picks two Students of the Month based on who best exemplifies Gables' Word of the Month in their class? November's word is Cooperation, and it's a big topic in classrooms. Ask your student about Cooperation - give them opportunities to practice Cooperation, and they might bring home this sign when November's students are chosen AND make some new friends!

Columbus City Schools COVID-19 Vaccines for ages 5-11

The District will host the clinics at every elementary school during regular school hours to all eligible recipients age 5-11:

December 13 -17 to administer first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine
January 3 - 7 to administer the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine

To get a COVID-19 vaccine for your child, parents must complete and return the COVID-19 consent form, no later than December 7. Consent forms can be completed electronically or by paper copy and returned to your school nurse.

Corner Captains Wanted

Any community member (parent, neighbor, concerned Columbus citizen) can sign up! We need help with our increased traffic flow in the mornings and afternoons. Columbus Public Health's Safe Routes to School is providing free training and stand-out clothing at 3pm on Wed, Dec 1. This is a great opportunity for parents who walk their kids to school in the morning or afternoons and can stick around for a wee bit longer to help.
