A Message From our Principals
Our professional development today focused on getting better at navigating our new educational landscape. Having time to share what is working well and where we can improve was invaluable for our in-building and virtual teaching staff. Every minute was used … and then some, based on all the cars still in the parking lot late this afternoon.
Your support means so much to us. By using Infinite Campus, reading the parent newsletters, and keeping learning at the forefront of family conversations, you are a strong partner. If you happened to participate in the virtual conferences, another way that you can support our efforts to continuously improve is to give us input by taking this parent survey regarding the virtual conferences.
Your partners in learning,
Linda O’Bryan and John McEwing

Picture Make-up/Re-take Day
On November 10, your child will have the opportunity to have their school picture taken if he/she was unable to make the previous picture day, or if he/she would like a re-take. We will offer the times of 10:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. during school hours for in-person students and 3:30 - 5:30 after school for virtual students.
Virtual students should report to the main office when they come for pictures, where staff will direct them to their picture location. To minimize exposure, people accompanying our virtual students are welcome to wait either in the vestibule of the front entrance or under the overhang just outside the main entrance to meet their student after the picture is taken.
Pictures can be ordered online, Click Here, go to school search and use the drop down menu to select “Lake Denoon Middle School 2020-2021”. From there follow the instructions to complete picture ordering. Sports Pics will send your child’s picture order directly to your home.

Student Stigma about Covid-19 Quarantine and Isolation
Hello parents and guardians:
Please review the following link and talk with your children to help us prevent stigma around Covid-19 at Lake Denoon Middle School.
Additionally, this week, students at Lake Denoon heard the following message from Principals O'Bryan and McEwing:
This is an important message about what is happening with COVID-19 in our school and community. While we have students out on quarantine as a protection for all of us, it is critical that you avoid language that blames others. Please do not use language that can lead others to feel badly about being on quarantine or knowing someone with COVID-19. Your words matter. Please respect the privacy of others. COVID 19 is a condition that’s new and we still have many unknowns about it. We are often afraid of the unknown and it is easy to associate that fear with others. We are asking that you remember and follow our PBIS expectations about being respectful to others. If you have questions or concerns about COVID-19, you can read information on the CDC website. So remember, your words matter. Thank you for doing your part to make LDMS a caring community and a great place to learn.
October is Bullying Prevention and Awareness Month
Lake Denoon Student Services team is here to support your child if he/she/they are experiencing bullying. Over school announcements for all of October, students are seeing different messages regarding bullying prevention, being an upstander, and knowing how to address bullying. Attached here is the Lake Denoon Bullying Report Form. Please review the following infographic with your child(ren).
Suicide Awareness and Prevention Presentation
During the last week in October, students will view a suicide awareness and prevention presentation created by the Lake Denoon Student Services team. The purpose of this presentation is to equip students with the signs and risk factors often associated with people who are contemplating suicide or having suicidal thoughts. In the presentation, students are informed about ways to problem-solve situations that may arise about suicide, receive suicide prevention resources, and are encouraged to seek help from a trusted adult. Students will have the opportunity to complete an exit survey asking if they need to be seen by a student services team member or, if they have a question following the presentation. Lake Denoon student services staff members will be available to meet with all students who request to see someone. The link to the presentation is included below.
Please feel free to contact Student Services with any questions or concerns you may have. If you would like to opt your student out of listening to this presentation, please contact Student Services at 262-971-1820 (ext. 7011) and provide your child's name and grade to the Student Services Administrative Assistants (Jodie Henneberry and Nicole Bitter). We will secure a place for your child to be during the time of the presentation.
