Tomorrow is GLOBAL SCHOOL PLAY DAY! At Penngrove, we believe that children these days do not have enough unstructured play. Each year, we participate in Global School Play Day as a way to raise awareness that KIDS NEED PLAY! Typically when we are on campus, kids do nothing but play all day, and electronics are banned. It's a favorite day of the year for many Panthers. We encourage your students to play play play all day tomorrow and not do ANY school work. Wahoo!
Recently, a parent shared this article about play which I think you will find enjoyable. Here are a few highlights from the article in case you don't have time to read the full link right now.
9 Benefits of Play
1. STIMULATE EARLY BRAIN DEVELOPMENT
2. IMPROVE INTELLIGENCE
3. SPARK CREATIVE THINKING
4. IMPROVE COMMUNICATION, VOCABULARY, AND LANGUAGE

Finally, if you really want to geek out on brain research and why play is SO critical for young children, enjoy the Ted Talk below by Dr. Peter Gray on the Decline of Play.

LAST CALL!!!!! 2/19 TOMORROW!
We are so excited for the Penngrove Elementary School Jog-a-thon in March! Our Jog-a-thon
is the biggest fundraiser of the school year. This event is primarily responsible for funding a
variety of student events and school projects. Although the Jog-a-thon is going to be different
this year, we are determined to make this event and the rest of the school year memorable for
each of our 465 Penngrove Panthers - they deserve it!
With the funds raised from this year’s Jog-a-thon, the Penngrove PTA aims to support:
● Family Fun Nights, student events and Distance Learning support
● Individual Penngrove Staff funds for supplies, materials, and general classroom support
● School improvement projects such as murals, playground equipment, etc.
● School supplies for return to in-person learning
● Capital funds for a NEW play structure and more!
