Do Good Work, Be a Friend, Every Day - April 6th, 2020
Week 2 - Remote Learning
Finding the balance... requires a lot of honesty, support, and recognition of our new situation.
Remote Learning
- Upload your 2nd Week Learning Plans to your 4th Q Learning Plan folders
- Be Clear with students about your Learning and Behavioral Expectations
- Invite Kelly and I to your ZOOM lessons
- Maintain supportive Communication with parents
- Review your Essential Learning Goals for 4th Q
- Balance your Online Obligations, some staff like working late, find that balance
Running a ZOOM Meeting: here are a few thoughts -
- More than 10 students can create a lot of movement on your screen, be ready.
- Set those behavior and learning expectations with your students
- 15 minutes at one sitting is trying
- If you create the meeting, you can mute everyone
- Check your ZOOM Settings to create Breakout groups
- Screen share - is quite useful, check your Setting
- Create assignment due dates, Playlists, and when assignments are due you can ask for a screen shot or picture if it is difficult to for the student to share.
- Ask students to raise hands instead of calling out
- Use a Calm Voice, it's already a complicated experience
- Remote Learning is Independent Learning. Remind your students this is new but similar to independent work in the classroom.
- Pause, ask for questions, and remind students to contact you if they have problems.
