Take Flight State of the Class
April Edition
Testing Season
As many of you know, the "testing season" is upon us! With this comes changes to schedules, especially our therapy class time. We are on track to finish the year right where we need to, but there will be weeks that our sessions may only happen once or twice due to testing. I SO appreciate your flexibility and commitment to homework (i.e. nightly oral reading and rate practice [for you Fall groups]) every night--even on nights we didn't meet for therapy! If you ever have a specific question or concern about our schedule, please reach out to me via email.
New Resource From TEA
The Texas Education Agency has provided parents and teachers with a new website and app just for Dyslexia! ESC Region 10, in conjunction with Southern Methodist University, developed the website and app to provide useful and valid information on the definition of dyslexia, the identification process, and instructional support for parents. It is available now in the AppStore in both English and Spanish. Go check it out!
I'd love YOUR feedback!
The Take Flight program from Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children is new to NISD this year, and will be expanding to more campuses in the near future. Knowing what areas in which this program has excelled (and areas in which we can improve) will help me match my therapy with your expectations and needs to continue to provide your child with the best therapy possible. Please take a moment to fill out this Google Form about your opinions on the program. Your responses will remain anonymous, so please feel free to be as honest as you'd like. The overall results will be shared with leaders in our district as well as help guide my future years as a therapist. Thank you in advance for your help! :)
