The Bear Necessities
July Edition
The Outdoor Classroom
As a kid who spent most of their childhood outdoors, this playground just made me smile. As kids built houses out of rocks and used mud and leaves to "cook" in our house. We dissected lightening bugs and spent time on our backs finding forms in the clouds.
If you spend any time at all reading about what is important for educating our future leaders, it all comes back to "creativity/curiosity/collaboration"....we did all of those things while outside.
I double dog dare you to skip the 3 smart board songs and go outside on a nature walk instead when weather allows!! Move slowly, let the kids lead....see what happens....feel good about it, nothing lost when we spend some time appreciating and learning outdoors.
Natural building area
I have seen this several times lately. It is simply natural materials for kids to build with...neat and easy!
Grant Idea
This is a flowing creek, very shallow, not even an inch of water...kids can put on the bud boots shown in another picture and splash away.
Outdoor Mud Kitchen...Coming Soon, Eagle Scout Project!!
They had bags of soil to mix up some good old fashioned mud making fun!! Wouldn't be used daily, but the idea is awesome!
Art area always ready for outside
Easy to do...
Bird Reserve
love the log seats for watching the feathered friends....also easy and we could place the bird feeds outside of the fenced area for viewing
The Croc Boots
Love this idea...would also love some little garden gloves for those natural building materials.
