#TLTCon - Session Highlight
Flipping Your Classroom
What is the Flipped Classroom Model?
The flipped classroom model involves taking lecture out of the classroom and replacing it with active and authentic learning experiences. The benefits are greater engagement, more application, and more opportunities for peer teaching and faculty-student interaction.
There will be TWO fantastic opportunities to learn about flipping your classroom at the Teaching, Learning, and Technology Conference!
Flipping Expectations: Student-Led Learning
Session Date: March 9th
Session Time: 11:00-11:45 amIn this session we will discuss how the traditional instructor-led classroom can be restructured to engage students as learning partners in a collaborative environment where students discuss, debate, build, and present their understanding of course topics. We will model a student-led classroom experience in which the participants will drive the content for the session and collaboratively discover the benefits and challenges to this design. Using examples of successes and failures from my own student-led course experiences we will discuss common challenges that can be addressed using a student-led design as well as the real and perceived problems that faculty and students encounter when implementing and using a student-led design.
