Student Achievements
Ethan Okoro
Ethan (7V) has been awarded 1st place in the 2023 Red Lodge Championship in Karting. He also broke the lap record (45.463) in his category this year. It is a big achievement in a STEM sport which he loves and has a lot of passion for.
He's been racing since he was 5 years old and he hopes to be an F1 engineer one day.
Congratulations Ethan!
Macey Freeman
Macey (7C) recently competed in the British Figure Skating Championships in Sheffield.
At the Advanced Novice level competitors are required to perform a short and a free programme across two days. The winner is the skater that has the highest cumulative score across both days. Macey demonstrated a remarkable test of character having finished in 8th place after Day 1. This meant that to stand a chance of winning or achieving a podium, Macey had to score significantly higher than all other competitors on Day 2 to overcome her points deficit. Using the strategies she had learnt in her sessions with her performance coach, Macey was able to reset her mind from the previous day and refocus. Consequently, she scored a huge personal best in the free programme which led to her convincingly winning the Free competition and overcoming an eight place deficit to finish the overall competition in first place. She is now Advanced Novice British Champion! Please see the link below for a video of Macey's performance.
Congratulations Macey!

Library Notice
Please be advised our fiction books are categorised to the best of our abilities into junior, young adult or adult. However, the new books coming into the library fall into wider categories of younger teen novels, older teen novels and adult novels. We do not wish to place restrictions on any of these categories in terms of what a student may or may not borrow from the Library. We are therefore asking that if a student borrows a book with more mature themes or content, we ask that they check with their parent or adult at home before starting to read. We would also advise that if anything in a book makes them feel uncomfortable then they should stop reading and perhaps discuss the content with an adult.
We believe in allowing all students to have open access to all of our reading materials, and while we can advise that a certain book may have more adult themes, language or content, we do not disallow any loan on that basis. We believe it is the responsibility of the student to be aware of the books that they are borrowing and of their own limitations, and to ask for guidance if necessary.
The new books are here to encourage students to progress with their reading and challenge themselves, and in doing so they may encounter more mature content for the first time.
We would ask that you support your child in this decision making by being aware of what they are borrowing from the Library, and advising them yourselves as to what you think is appropriate reading at home.
Thank you for your continued support.
