Principal's Message
Greetings Wolfsville Families,
It is hard to believe that December is upon us. The next few weeks are going to fly by! Although the holiday season traditionally brings much excitement, we recognize that this year may be different for many of us due to the pandemic. Perhaps our travel plans are put on hold, or fully online shopping will replace visiting our favorite stores or specialty shops and restaurants. Regardless of these adjustments to ensure our health and safety, the season still brings a time to love, enjoy, and appreciate our close family and friends.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff, students and families for your continued support. Our school is truly a community school, and it is at this time of year when the caring nature of the people shines through. I have witnessed our WFES community come together as a true community family to celebrate and support each other, never losing sight of our purpose… the children. The new year will bring new learning experiences, new challenges and new opportunities for us to become even stronger. I look forward to what lies ahead for us as a school community in 2021. You continue to amaze me with your commitment and dedication to the children.
I wish you all peace, joy, happiness and hope during this holiday season and throughout the new year.
Please feel free to contact me by phone (240-236-2250) or e-mail (linda.stuart@fcps.org) with any questions you may have. We are here for you!
Yours in Education,
Linda Stuart
Congratulations Mr. Harne!
After serving Wolfsville Elementary School for 32.5 years, Paul Harne will be retiring from his post as lead custodian effective January 1st. Although this is a very exciting time for Paul and his family, we can't help to feel that this is a loss for our Wolfsville community. Mr. Harne is not only an amazing custodian and member of our staff, he is an amazing and caring person. We will miss his awesome sense of humor and positive spirit. Mr. Harne has assured us that he plans to stay connected to our school community.
We love you, Mr. Harne!
Best wishes for a very happy and healthy retirement.
You deserve the very best that life has to offer!

Wolfsville Families: IMPORTANT!!
Please be on the look out for the PowerSchool Survey that will be arriving via

PLEASE DO NOT DELETE!
It is important for our families to complete this survey, as it results in funding for FCPS.
Thank you for your cooperation!
WFES Book Exchange!
It may be a virtual learning world, but we LOVE to have physical books in the hands of students! Students are not required to participate in book circulation but we are excited to offer the opportunity.
How does it work?
Students use the Wolfsville Library Media Center catalog to place specific books on hold OR order a surprise selection curated just for you! Then, on scheduled days, families pick up their bagged/bundled books from the school’s front vestibule. Exchange will take place once a month; however, up to 10 books may be borrowed for reading!
How does our family get started?
Step 1: Order Books. Your child may begin placing books on hold OR can order a surprise selection by completing the form!
Order a surprise selection by completing one of the following forms:
Readers are diverse. Although both forms are guided by grade level, use that one that best fits you!
Click here to learn how to order a specific title using the Wolfsville Library Catalog (intermediate students will receive guided instruction on placing holds during library class)
Step 2: Pick up books on Thursday, December 17th anytime between 9 am and 6 pm
*Next pick up: Thursday, Jan. 14th
Step 3: Enjoy your new book selection for independent or family time reading!
Books (library books only) may be returned at the next pick-up date or may be returned on any school day between 9 am and 4 pm. They can be placed on the returned library materials cart in the front of the school. Returned books will be quarantined for at least 72 hours before being handled.
Please contact Library Media Specialist, Casee Valentovish, through Schoology or via email, casee.valentovish@fcps.org with any questions.
Winter Reading Challenge!
From January 1st to January 31st, Wolfsville Elementary, and all Frederick County students, will participate in Beanstack’s Fourth Annual Winter Reading Challenge, “Book Like Us,” sponsored by Simon and Schuster (S&S). We challenge our patrons/students to read during the month of January and keep track of their reading on our Beanstack site. Thousands of libraries and schools across the nation will encourage their communities to read a target number of minutes and books.
Prizes will include book collections and virtual author visits. Ten (10) winning schools or libraries will each get a collection of fifty (50) books from the “Books Like Us” collection. Happy reading, Wildcats!

Mr. T's Counseling Corner!
December Greetings, Wildcat Families from Mr. T's Counseling Corner! Just a couple of quick notes. First, I'm organizing some small groups for extra support. The groups will be from December 1st through the middle of January. Groups include: strategies for managing anxiety, strategies for improving impulse control, and study skills for virtual learning. Some teachers have suggested students who may benefit from these groups. If you think your child may benefit from such a group or you would like more information, you can email Mr. T at christopher.tressler@fcps.org, send a Schoology message, or call 240-236-2235.
Next, the holiday season is upon us and will be here before you know it. And there's no doubt it's been a very difficult year in so many ways. Wolfsville Elementary has many community partnerships that provide support in many way: food security, clothing donations for both new and gently used clothing, and help with providing gifts for kids. Whether you are interested in helping to provide support or you are in need this year, please check out some of the community resources available at Mr. T's Counseling Corner google site at https://sites.google.com/fcps.org/woes-school-counseling/home and click on the Family and Student Services link. Again, if you reach out directly to Mr. T with specific needs or questions, the inquiries are always kept in the strictest confidence.
Finally, Virtual Learning has been stressful at times and I know we all want to get back together at WFES. In the spirit of spending time with kids and grandkids, here's a fun video sure to bring a smile to your face: https://youtu.be/gbsZohEMn38. Be good to one another and have a wonderful holiday!
Mr. T
WFES Guidance Department

2020-2021 Yearbook
Hello Wildcats! Our yearbook this year will be like no other. Lifetouch is working on how to take yearbook photos for this year. They are planning to schedule days to take photos in the spring since we are scheduled to be attending school in a hybrid format - more information to come!
In the meantime, they have set up a Shutterfly Shared Site. If there is a special moment you catch your child learning or a spirit day during the school year, you can take a picture and add it to the shared site. Here's how to set it up:
1. Create an account with Shutterfly at https://www.shutterfly.com
2. After creating an account, go to wolfsville.Shutterfly.com/pictures and clink the link to request permission
3. Ask for permission
4. Put your name in the text box, your child's name and grade in the message box and I will accept you as a member
5. You will receive an email that you've been accepted to the ShareSite
6. Download the app "Shutterfly Share Sites" to your cell phone for free
7. Log in using the account info you created
8. Click photos and begin sharing photos straight from your cell phone
You may also email your photos to Kristen Johnson at kjohns10@gmail.com.
If you have any questions about the yearbook, please contact Kristen Johnson at kjohns10@gmail.com.
