From the BSD IT Department: Winter Break 1 to 1 Device Monitoring 

During winter break (12/23 to 01/08), Boise School District will not monitor all student activity on district provided Chromebooks, but will provide parents/guardians with the ability to monitor your student’s activity through a GoGuardian Parent App Pilot. We take our responsibility to provide a safe and appropriate digital learning environment seriously. The GoGuardian Parent App Pilot will provide the individual monitoring that many of our families would like. If this pilot program goes well, we hope to extend the use of the GoGuardian Parent App through the remainder of the school year.

Transportation Update

Hello from the Boise School District Transportation Department. We look forward to welcoming students back to classrooms and the school bus in January. We would like to highlight a few important changes in preparation for our return to school bus services on January 19th:


Bus Schedule Changes - Many school bus schedules have been changed to accommodate a bus driver shortage and reduced ridership. New bus schedules are available within the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. It is very important for you to check for new bus schedules prior to our return on 1/19/21.


Afternoon Route Times - The afternoon route drop-off times listed on the bus schedules are approximate. The bus will drop off students in attendance on the bus for that day’s schedule. Most buses will drop off earlier than the approximate time listed because we only have T/Th or W/F students on the bus.


Bus Route Numbers - All bus route numbers have changed to match the last three digits of the number decals on the bus. Additionally, the route placard next to the bus entrance door will always display what route a bus is running, which is especially important if the route is being served by a substitute bus.


If you are new to the Boise School District or have never created an Infinite Campus Parent Portal, you will receive an activation link from “Campus@Boiseschools.org”. Please contact your student’s school if you have forgotten your password.


We want to reassure you that we continue to be committed to following our Transportation Pandemic Operation Plan to keep our students safe. This includes the wearing of masks in compliance with current mask orders in place, hand sanitizing, and bus cleaning. Please take the time to familiarize yourself with our pandemic operation plan so you and your student know what to expect.

Individual Picture Day

Individual school picture day was pushed back to 2nd semester and had been rescheduled for the following dates. Our school safety protocols will be continue to be in place including social distanced photos and students will stand for photos instead of sit. Photographers will not approach students to adjust student hair, posture, etc.


If our date to return to hybrid learning is delayed, we will reschedule these picture times and communicate it accordingly.


School picture packets were mailed home last week to all families.


Washington BOS families choosing to take photos, please arrive between 10:00 and 11:00am.

*From the photographer: We have developed a great program to assist in keeping everyone healthy. Health surveys, temperature checks, and masks will be required daily for all of our staff. Our process allows for photographers to stay socially distanced from all students. We have worked with our photographers to mimic movements for fixing hair and adjusting posture versus approaching students. Equipment will be sanitized.

Updated BSD Inclement Weather Procedures

Inclement Weather During All Virtual Learning

While all students in the Boise School District are learning virtually, during periods of dangerous weather conditions, such as significant snowfall, frigid temperatures or extremely icy streets, the Boise School District will announce and follow a 9:15 AM start schedule, rather than canceling school. Instructional staff will deliver instruction virtually. The delayed start time will give our staff, who choose to provide virtual instruction from their physical classroom, time to travel safely to school.


Inclement Weather During In-Person Learning

During periods of inclement weather, when in-person learning is occuring, all students and staff will be required to take mobile devices home each day so that they are prepared for virtual learning to take place.

If the District determines that students and staff cannot safely travel to school or if schools are not able to operate safely because of city-wide dangerous weather conditions, schools may require students to learn virtually (online) but with a delayed start time of 9:15 AM. The delayed start time will allow staff who need to report to the physical building to deliver virtual instruction to do so safely.

We may not cancel in-person learning on days with normal wintery conditions. Light snowfall, cold mornings or areas of ice are not sufficiently dangerous to force the closure of in person learning in schools. With proper precautions including appropriate clothing, road deicing, and careful driving, students can travel to and from school safely.

BSD Winter Break COVID-19 Resources

Given the level of community spread of COVID-19 in Ada County and with the Winter Break nearly upon us, here’s information and COVID-19 resources for you and your family:


How can I keep myself and others safe during the holiday season? Gatherings during the upcoming holidays can be an opportunity to reconnect with family and friends. This holiday season, consider how your holiday plans can be modified to reduce the spread of COVID-19 to keep your friends, families, and communities healthy and safe. The CDC offers information to slow the spread of COVID-19 during small gatherings.


Are you experiencing symptoms that could be COVID? The symptoms are very similar to seasonal allergies, cold, and flu. However, symptoms may also present as a headache, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, loss of sense of taste or smell, etc.

How do I know what to do? If you are experiencing any of the symptoms listed above, the Illness Decision Tree for Schools can guide you in knowing what steps to take.


Were you at-risk? Have you been within 6 feet of another person with or without a mask? Were you together for 15 minutes or more? Did you learn they are awaiting test results OR tested positive within 48 hours? Depending on your answers, check the COVID-19 Exposure Decision Tree to see if you may need to quarantine. If you or a family member needs to quarantine, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Quarantine Guidelines will help you understand how many days to quarantine and what it means to consider isolation.

Are you, a friend, or family member considering taking a COVID test or waiting on your result? It is very important to let friends and family know this. It is important to stay home and distance yourself if you are awaiting test results. If you are not the only one in your home, please quarantine in your room and do not share common spaces (bathroom, kitchen, etc.) if at all possible. Wear a mask when you come out of your room. Maintain social distance of 6+ feet in your home.

Where can I get a test? There are a number of options for COVID-19 testing in the Treasure Valley. Prices, eligibility and type of test available do vary, so please review the list carefully before deciding which option is best for you and your family.

Hello BSD families,


We have expanded our curbside meal program to provide services at 17 locations while students are 100% virtual learning. Free meals are available for pick up on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 3:30-4:30 pm. Multiple meals are provided each service day. On Mondays and Wednesdays we will serve two days of meals per child (2 breakfasts, 2 lunches). On Fridays we will serve three days of meals (3 breakfasts, 3 lunches).
