Music Program Dates
Classes of of Stegemoller, Branchick, and Wegner on Thursday December 10th at 7:00pm.
Students should dress up like they are going out to dinner and may also wear a
favorite Christmas hat.
The program will be held in the South gymnasium. Students should arrive to our classroom by 6:45pm so we can line up and calm our jitters!
Homework Challenge
If students do not get their Rocket Math turned in tomorrow then we will have normal homework packets to complete (one packet with both math and reading since there would be a shorter completion time- thanks to the copier eating my packets this morning!)
For those students who have passed the Mixed facts in Math Fact Mastery, I gave them eight 2-digit by 1-digit multiplication to work on. This will continue until Christmas Break.

Writing-
We have started our Informational Writing Unit. Everyone picked an Endangered Animal to research. We have started writing our rough drafts! When we are finished writing, we will rewrite them in our best handwriting. I was hoping to type them but the computer labs have been booked until break due to Acuity testing.
We are also teaming up with Miss Sweet in art class. She has graciously allowed us to incorporate our Endangered Animals into their Landscape portraits! I can't wait to see the finished products!
Reading-
Unit 3 Week 1-
- Comprehension Strategy: Visualize
- Comprehension Skill: Problem and Solution
- Genre: Literature- Folktale
- Vocabulary Strategy: Synonyms
- Phonics: r-Controlled Vowels
I will be starting a more "regular" spelling program in my reading class. Students are really struggling with applying our phonics rules to spelling words so I think it is time to take it old school and start giving pre-tests and post-tests and expect students to be working on these words both in class and at home. I will not be starting "spelling homework" until after Christmas break but wanted to share this ahead of time. These words will also be added to ScootPad for students to practice.
