Happy New Year Elsie Rogers Families
Welcome back to the second half of our school year. We have had some additions to the Elsie Rogers Family if you have not already heard - Congrats to Ms Givens and Mrs. Mauro as they both gave birth within days of one another. Each has a sweet baby girl to snuggle! With the departure of both ladies for the time being we welcome Mrs. Kelleher (coverage for Ms Givens) and Miss Chesnutt (coverage for Mrs. Mauro)!
The life skill that we will be working on as a school this month is PERSEVERANCE. Our goal is to instill in everyone that we do not give up when things get difficult. As our daily Words of Wisdom shares with us, when we are faced with a difficult task, we take baby steps toward the end goal. This Life Skill is especially important this time of year when we are presented with our local and state assessments. If students take the necessary baby steps within their classrooms and daily lives by actively participating in their learning, then achievement will be the end result! Below I have shared a quick TedEd video on three ways to boost self confidence, check it out with your child!
We have many activities/opportunities coming up over the next few months. I invite you and your family to pick something to participate in together. PTO will offer an open swim opportunity at Penn High School on January 31 and a bowling night at Strikes and Spares on February 22.. They also have calendared an evening at Skyzone in March! The staff at Elsie Rogers is preparing for their Learning Sphere evening (February 27) where several new vendors have been slated and if the cold weather holds, the staff will be taking students snow tubing on February 14. Please check the calendar of dates below for days and times.
Finally, our spring months will look different in regards to our state assessments for students in grades 3-5. Please see the article below on updates and what parents need to know!
I wish you all a Happy New Year. May you all find happiness and health in 2019!
