Welcome to Essex High School!
Attendance
Attendance is an important piece of student learning and experience at Essex High School. It's helpful that we know if students will be arriving late, being dismissed early, or absent from school.
Please call our attendance line (802) 879-5507 or fill out the attendance form online letting us know any changes in your student's attendance.
If your student is leaving early or coming in late-please have them stop in the main office for a blue slip. Blue slips allow the teacher to know the student has an excused late arrival or early dismissal. All other students should check in with the Student Attendance Specialist in the Main Office when arriving at school.
Hazing, Harassment, Bullying and Retaliation
It is an expectation that EHS students follow policies and expectations during the regular school day as well as during any school activity on or off school campus in order to ensure a positive, safe, and connected learning environment. Hazing, Harassment, Bullying, and Retaliation are not tolerated.
Any person who believes they have been the victim of hazing, harassment, and/or bullying or the victim of revenge by making a complaint of such behavior, or any person with knowledge or objects that prove something of conduct which may be equal to hazing will report the possible acts immediately to a school leader, a school administrator, coach, or the superintendent’s office.
The rights and welfare of our students, faculty, staff, and community are a priority. For more information about Hazing, Harassment, Bullying, and Retaliation please visit the EWSD Handbook. A hard copy may be picked up at the EHS Main Office by request.

Message from Health Office
The Office team looks forward to meeting the new Hornets and reconnecting with returning students!
The Health Office will be open at our regular hours (7:30 a.m.- 3:00 p.m.) starting Aug 24, 2022. Please feel free to call (802-857-7788) or email us (ehs-nurses@ewsd.org) with any questions or concerns. The best treatment for your child starts with good information and communication. We encourage you to complete the online Health Information form found through your PowerSchool Parent Portal as soon as possible. It also allows you to give permission for over the counter medications to be given at school as needed without contacting you first.
If you are unable to get on to the PowerSchool Parent Portal, please contact the EHS Helpdesk at helpdesk@ewsd.org or by calling (802) 857-7777.
Thank you,
Your nurses: Alyssa, Diane, Karen, and Kathleen.
EWSD District Communications Agreement
Communications are an integral part of our District. Learning opportunities are often active, student-centered, and innovative experiences.
As our students develop the knowledge, skills, and attributes needed to prepare them for the next stage of their lives, we often document and celebrate their learning through the use of digital and print media.
Photography and video are best at capturing these learning moments and sharing our stories.
As a District, we are actively using:
- The EWSD and school websites
- Facebook: www.facebook.com/EssexWestford
- Instagram: www.instagram.com/essexwestford
- Twitter: @EssexWestford
- YouTube
- The Essex Reporter
- Flyers/annual reports/handbook/etc.
The Essex Westford School District does not require parents to sign a form giving the District permission to share images of students’ likeness or artistic work to be used in printed, televised, and web-based communication.
*Parents who wish to request otherwise may complete an opt-out form in the school’s main office. The opt-out form must be filled out each year.
