The final Problem-Solving Step is P: Pick the best solution! Once you have named the positive and negative consequence of each solution you thought of, you can pick the solution that works best. It’s easy to remember our Problem-Solving Steps because they spell the word “step,” S, T, E, P. Using the Problem-Solving Steps will help you get along better with your friends and family. This week, if you have a problem, remember to STEP it up and use the Problem-Solving Steps.
Dinner Table Conversation Starters:
- What do you know how to do, that you could teach someone else?
- Would you ever want to be a teacher? Why or why not?
- What do you think makes the most difference in how kids do at school? Hard work, innate ability, parental supervision, peer attitudes, how good the school is?
- What do you think about home-schooling?
- What did you learn today outside of school?

4th Grader, Mackenzie Wood, took 1st Place in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo contest for student poetry!
If I had a pony, I would brush her curly mane
I would ride her day and night, and sometimes in the rain
She’d prance and gallop and trot with such grace
And I would just have to stroke her soft, perfect face
If I had a pony, she would have long, soft hair
To keep her warm and cozy in the cold, cold air
She’d have a beautiful white coat that had a little bit of gray
That sparkled like snow on a cold winter's day
Her mane and tail and furry hooves were a light colored peach
That almost looked like sand on a California beach
Her eyes shine like blue crystals and sparkle like glitter
And the first time I saw her, my heart began to twitter
