What is Relational Wisdom?

Life is all about relationships. Operating without Relational Wisdom is like trying to drive your car without oil. Eventually the friction will cause it to seize up and break down.

Less conflict means deeper relationships, Relationally-wise people experience less conflict and enjoy richer, more enduring relationships. The kind of relationships where we are fully known and still loved.

Relationally-wise people bring out the best in others, even in the ordinary interactions in life. The person serving your coffee at Starbucks needs you to approach him or her with relational wisdom. But so do your spouse, children, friends, and co-workers.

Even at work, relationship often trumps expertise. Your relational skills can magnify or diminish your hard skills. More importantly, they can magnify or diminish the skills of others around us.

In short, Relational Wisdom is the ability to carry out the two greatest commandments, to love God above all and to love your neighbor as yourself. Better yet, it means the ability to love as Jesus loved.
