Scholar Engagement
All RMMS scholars are expected to be engaged in school for the entire school day - even in the asynchronous times. Teachers are hosting tutoring sessions and office hours to support scholars that are struggling or missing work. MANY scholars are not taking advantage of these opportunities. Please talk to your scholar about attending these important sessions. Also, please let your scholar know that they are NOT to be out in town during school hours. We received a report that some of our scholars were spotted around 2 pm skateboarding downtown. We don't want any of our scholars to get into trouble with the Sheriff's department. The school day ends officially at 3:08 pm. Thank you for your help.
Good News Campaign- Parent Conferences - December 8 and 9
We are excited to share with you our Good News Campaign. With all the COVID restrictions, we are approaching our Parent Conferences a little different this year. Our teachers will be emailing you about your scholar's successes and areas of growth. This means you will receive 7 emails over 2 days celebrating your scholar! How awesome is that! It's the Good News Campaign. Our teachers will have sent out over 4,000 messages to our RMMS families. Now more than ever, we need your help to keep your scholar on track when it comes to school. Please encourage them to be on time, to participate, and to turn on their cameras. At this point in the school year, there really isn't any good excuse for them not to be participating. They know how to use the technology. They know how to reach out for extra help. They know what is expected. Thank you for holding your scholar to the same high expectations.
There will be no asynchronous learning on December 8 or 9 due to scheduled half days for Parent Conferences. Our schedule will remain the same as far as synchronous "live" instruction to keep consistency and our scholars engaged in the learning. We realize that this is different that our usual half days where everyone is out of school by 11:30 am.
Learning Model Selection
Friday, December 4 is the last day to register your scholar for the Spring semester learning model. You will need to select whether you would like your scholar to attend school IN PERSON in the CLASSIC model or attend school AT HOME in the VIRTUAL model. We have made personal phone calls to every family to ensure your scholar is registered in the model that best meets the needs of your family. If we get no response from you, your scholar will continue in the model they are currently registered in. We are staffing our campus based on our parent requests. We will NOT be able to make any changes after Friday as will begin working the Spring semester schedule on Monday, December 7. If you have any questions, please reach out to us!
Materials Distribution
Materials and textbooks were distributed to all of our scholars. These materials are necessary for your scholars to continue their work from home. If your scholar missed this opportunity, please call the office to schedule a time to pick up these materials at your earliest convenience. Please call 760-631-4500.
Superintendent’s Council for Equity and Anti Racism Community Forum
The Superintendent’s Council for Equity and Anti Racism is a group of parents, students, teachers, staff, administration, community members, and board members who meet monthly with a focus on supporting systems and practices that reflect the district’s commitment to equity and anti racism. In our meetings this year, we are discussing professional development opportunities and looking at our discipline and grading policies through an equity lens. An important part of the structure of the Superintendent’s Council is to get feedback from our community. This feedback, as well as data, surveys, and information from a global and national perspective informs the equity and anti racism recommendations that we provide to the superintendent. Please join us on Thursday, December 10th from 5:00-6:00pm for our first Equity and Anti Racism Community Forum. Here is the link to the ZOOM: https://vistausd.zoom.us/j/92048822543

SCHOLAR HIGHLIGHT - Olivia Rodriguez and Miriany Torres
Olivia and Miriany created an incredible video about body shaming in their video production class. These young ladies created and produced the video under the leadership and guidance of their teacher Beth Duncan.
Please see their introduction below:
The reason we made this short film is because we want to spread positivity. We’re tired of getting body shamed and so are many other students. Body shaming is an underrated subject that needs to be spoken about here at Rancho Minerva. We hope you enjoy this short film.
Just a heads up: This film has a few mature pictures.
CHECK YOUR PARENT PORTAL - KEEP YOUR EMERGENCY CONTACTS UPDATED!
With COVID-19 concerns, it is more important than ever that your emergency contacts are up-to-date. When we return to school, if a scholar shows any symptoms of COVID-19, we will be contacting you to pick them up immediately. This is for everyone's safety. If you are unsure about how to do update your Parent Portal in Aeries, please contact the front office for assistance. 760-631-4500
