Captain's Log
PASS CHRISTIAN PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT
AHOY, PIRATES!
Good Morning! Here is a little something different for our opening...I ask that you consider these three quotes from Dr. King in the context of what we do every day for our students and for each other. Remember that we are all someone's DREAM...our ancestors' hopes are linked to our present and will be carried forward into our future because of what we do or fail to do right now. Our work IS important! Our work DOES make a difference! Do it well, Pirates! Every child is a DREAM! Thank you in advance for what you are about to do this week and for the preparation that went into what will be an amazing learning experience for our Pirate Learners.
With that, I submit the Captain’s Log! #committedtoeXcellence #eXcellencemarksthespot #finishstrong cje
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Letters of Intent: Thank you for submitting your letters of intent. It looks like we are staying together for the most part, which is a good thing. Consistency at the site-level helps our students in so many ways. It also helps us with professional learning and helps to maintain our culture. We will begin making recommendations to the board in February with expectations of providing contracts in early March.
Certified Staff, If a raise is given by the state or district, we will reissue contracts at that time. Early contracts give you comfort that we value you and the work you do. For the few who will be moving on due to retirement or seeking other employment, exit interviews will begin in mid-late May; I look forward to learning how we can maintain eXcellence in service to our team members.
Principals, please meet with anyone who has not submitted his/her response to determine their needs or to answer questions he/she may have. n=5
Calendar Committee: The calendar committee will meet Thursday, January 24 at 3:30 pm in Central Services Office boardroom.
NAEP: In February, all of our K-8 schools will participate in the NAEP (The Nation's Report) assessment. Please make sure our 4th and 8th grade students understand the importance of doing their very best as this is the measuring stick our country uses to determine the effectiveness of education in our states. MS has been improving over the years, and I believe it is, in part, due to our students' participation. Practice items on the NAEP website will make great bellringers. #fedupwith50
