A Note from Mrs. Tate
Dear Herff family,
I don’t know about you, but the recent events have given me a heart of gratitude to say the least.
“We are Boerne ISD” and “We are Boerne” has taken on a whole new meaning with the level of support provided during this unprecedented time. In a short period of time we have rallied together to provide daily breakfast and lunch distributions at Curington Elementary and Boerne Middle School South for BISD. In addition, Blessings in a Backpack is also providing food at our lunch distributions on Fridays.
We have started online learning. If you need paper packets, please contact your child’s teacher by the end of the day on Wednesday, March 25th so we know how many copies to prepare. Your child’s teacher will reach back out to you with a time to pick up your packet at Herff Elementary. You may also reach out to me directly.
We have also realized how much we miss our daily interactions with you and your child. Wow. I tear up just thinking about it and if this is how I feel, I know how your child’s teacher, you, and your child must feel. Our plan is to coordinate zoom meeting times for each grade level since we know you have limited devices at home (and multiple Herff Hawks!) and ‘facetime’ is important for our social emotional health.
The district has provided guidance as you navigate online learning and balance your own work and family responsibilities during this time. Are you overwhelmed? If you are, you are probably trying to do too much. Scale back and keep it simple. We are in this together and are here to support you.
As Mrs. Flores’ letter (link HERE) indicates, our goal for online learning is to reinforce what has already been taught with the desire to maintain the learning that your child has already received this school year. Recommended time for instruction and some ideas for how to schedule your day have been suggested to help you. We miss you. Wash your hands and stay home.
Start with your dream.
Embark on your journey.
Leave your legacy...
You are loved,
Tanya C. Tate
