Hello Staff,
Now that all classes have had the opportunity to experience NGSS lessons utilizing the FOSS materials in the lab, it is time to transition science instruction to the classroom teachers and utilize the lab to support classroom instruction. Yvette’s role will be to support teachers in planning and teaching lessons and/or units tied to NGSS standards using an Integrated approach.
Trimester 3 Lab Schedule
March 6-10 B week rotation in the lab, and last bi-weekly lab rotation. Due to Min. Day Dismissal on the 9th -10th, We would like to move 4th grade’s lab time to Thursday, March 9th (same times). Third grade already has a plan for how they will accommodate the PE schedule on Wednesday. Thank you for being flexible.
March 13-24th Planning Days: Yvette will meet with one grade level representative for a day of planning to map out the next 8 weeks of NGSS. Grade levels can choose which teacher will attend, and be your NGSS expert! Please send Yvette the name of your grade level representative by Thursday, March 9th so that she can begin scheduling planning days.
March 27-June 2 Lab schedule will move from a bi-weekly rotation schedule to an open/flexible schedule. Allowing teachers to utilize lab times to support classroom instruction. Lab schedule will be created by Yvette and available for teachers on the drive.
Things to consider before you attend your planning day:
What NGSS standard do you want to focus on for your 8 week unit?
How often will your grade level be teaching science each week? Once a week, twice a week?
Our goal in planning is to incorporate two or more lab lessons into your unit.

Have you checked out the Homework Shared Folder? The Tri 3 Homework for math K-6th is all there. Great STUFF! Please see Yvette if you have questions. Also, you will find the 15 minute Math Block (spiral review/Math Talks) lessons. Really good STUFF! Go to the FSS Shared Folder-IMP folder-grade level folder.
Finally, I want you to have some advanced knowledge about the NEW California DASHBOARD. Have you heard about this? On March 14th, California will release a new "dashboard" or website for public viewing. This "dashboard" will provide multiple pieces of data about each public school, from SBAC scores, attendance, suspensions, EL progress... More to come.
Have a peaceful weekend!
