Veteran's Day

Our second grade students will be leading our school’s Veteran’s Day program on Friday, November 11th at 8:00 am in the BES Cafeteria. Some of our Texan Choir students will be singing The Star Spangled Banner. Parents are invited to attend! Our whole school will be attending the celebration.

If your family has a veteran that would be willing to come to our celebration, please sign them up HERE. We would love to be able to recognize them!

2nd Grade Families can see more information HERE.

Art

BES artists have been working hard to spread some of the Fall / Halloween spirit throughout the campus! We’ve been collaborating with each other to create murals that inspire creativity to thrive.

  • Patterned Pumpkins

  • Dancing Monsters

  • Thanksgiving tree

  • Themed Pumpkins

  • Haunted houses

Kindergarten / 1st graders will be exploring how to create a one-point perspective drawing! 2nd /3rd graders have started their first Optical Illusions! 5th Graders have started self-portraits and have been tackling the difficult task of learning proportions! We will also soon be uploading artwork onto Artsonia so please make sure you have given permission for your artist to upload their artwork! Artsonia is an online gallery that allows parents to see their student's artwork and provides ways for you to support our amazing BES artists!

Music

Piano

All of our 2-5 students have had a chance to have lessons in the piano lab! All their piano music is in their SeeSaw activities (2nd grade) or Canvas (3-5). They are welcome to practice at home on a real piano/keyboard.

Just a reminder that all 2-5 students need to bring headphones for use in the piano lab. Only wired headphones work with the pianos. Bluetooth headphones (unless they have a cord) and lightning port (apple) headphones do not work. We only have a few pairs of extra headphones in the lab, so it’s important that all students bring their own.

General Music

In music class, we are working very hard on brushing up on our musical skills. We are working on singing, music literacy, instrument/drumming technique, body percussion, singing games, speech pieces, canons, world music, and all kinds of things!

Texan Choir

Texan Choir is rocking and rolling! We currently have 75 singers in choir and rehearsals are going very well! We are preparing The Star Spangled Banner for Veteran’s Day, as well as several selections for the Colleyville Tree Lighting on Friday, December 2nd.

BES Orff Ensemble

Our 5th Grade Orff Ensemble was selected by the Texas Music Educators Association to be an invited performance group in San Antonio this February! Click HERE to hear more about our group!.

PE

This year has already been so much fun in PE! Finding ways to stay healthy for our entire community is a focus for us.

This 2nd 9 weeks we will focus on games that include focus on teamwork…we have been working on cooperative games and now we will step it up a notch!

Theatre

Theatre

We have had such a great time getting to know each other these first 9 weeks!! I have been so impressed with their dedication and hard work!

In our lower grades we have been working on Pantomime. I’m sure some of you have seen your students bouncing a fake ball or trying to escape from a box. This 2nd 9 weeks we have started exploring our voices and how we can use our voice to create characters.

2nd grade has started working on their Veteran’s Day performance. More about that is to come.

In the older grades we worked on telling stories through tableaus. That will lead into learning about plot and figuring out how a play works. They will soon start writing their own mini play. Studio plays have been cast and rehearsals are in full swing!

Frozen is well underway in 5th grade. Rehearsals are going fantastic!! We can’t wait for you to see it!
