Cedar Grove Friday Flash
October 21, 2022
Dear Cedar Grove Families,
Beginning this past week, schools began the process of converting air conditioning to heat. As the weather gets colder, please be sure your child is dressed appropriately and warmly, as the children will continue to go outdoors for recess if the temperature is above 32 degrees.
Please consider registering for SchoolCash Online. SchoolCash Online helps parents and guardians pay school-related fees—such as field trip costs—safely, quickly and easily. This new system puts school-related fees online so payments can be made using a credit card or e-check, increasing efficiency and security by making payments directly into schools’ bank accounts and eliminating the need for teachers to handle money. Cash and check payments directly to schools will remain an option.
To register, visit: https://mcpsmd.schoolcashonline.com/.
Each year, families have an opportunity to purchase a piano at reduced prices through an agreement with MCPS and Schaeffer's Piano Company. The sales event will take place between November 13 and 20. For more information, please click this 2022 Piano Loaner Program Letter!
As a reminder, there is no school this Monday. Have a wonderful weekend!

Our last Pink Out Wednesday of the year is this coming Wednesday! We need all the Pink! Every year we support breast cancer awareness by wearing pink on Wednesdays in October. It is a community event that promotes empathy and togetherness. We encourage you to take pictures of your pinked-out students and send them to Mrs. Hirschhorn who will compile all the photos into a video. You may watch videos from previous years here. Thank you to the students and staff who participate!

Our annual pumpkin character decorating event is still in full swing! Follow the rules and send in your pictures on or before October 25 (the deadline has been extended!). We hope the long weekend will inspire some creativity!
A message from Mrs. Spoales about PBSL lessons next month:
Montgomery County Public Schools is taking an active role in the prevention of child abuse and neglect through early prevention and intervention education. During the month of November, our school counselor, Mrs. Spoales, will be presenting lessons on the topic of child abuse and neglect. The lessons are known as Personal Body Safety.
Lessons are to help students to:

- Learn skills for self-protection and identifying child abuse and neglect.
- Learn skills for asking for help for self and others and practice reporting to a trusted adult
