Room 207
April 4-8, 2016
Welcome back!
This past quarter has gone by so quickly, and as we begin the last quarter of the 2015-16 school year, I am very hopeful that everyone is ready to dive right in and persevere through the rest of the year!
EOG
We are steadily approaching the End of Grade Test (EOG). With that being said, the kids and I will continue to work on building stamina (unfortunately, we have to have a lot of this when the real deal comes) and working on practice test questions. It is very important that we are comfortably prepared for the day of the test and the way we get there is by practicing.
Report Cards
Report cards will be going out this week. Please take the time to go over them along with the comments I made. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me! Everyone has room for growth! We will be setting some goals based off of the third quarter results once report cards go out.
*Please continue to help remind your children to be responsible with turning in reading logs and math packets.*
Math
We will be continuing our fraction exploration! We have some new games that we set up before break that will hopefully spiff things up a little! I will also be launching math stations next week with the kids. There will be three different stations, analyze and reason, review preview, and perseverance. Analyze and reason station will challenge the kids to deeply think and explain using their words. Review, preview is just what it sounds like: review of past mathematical concepts and preview into new ones! Perseverance station will be constructed to challenge the kids to go above and beyond their normal approach to math. We will work on showing 2 different ways to solve math problems. I am looking forward to this!
I will be continuing my math research at the Foundations of Math training along with the third grade team on Tuesday.
This week may be a little difficult to jump into after being off for a whole week, but I am hopeful that everyone will be back on track and ready to go!
Again, if you need anything, please don't hesitate to call or email me.
