Veterans Day Program
Our 26th annual Veterans Day celebration, is on Friday, November 11th.
An invitation to attend is extended to all Veterans, as we pay tribute to the sacrifices that all veterans have made. If you know any Veterans, please encourage them to contact us at 989-731-0848, so we can add them to the guest list. We have attached a copy of the Veterans Day letter for more information.
Our students will have an active part in honoring our veterans. Parents are welcome to attend, keeping in mind we will make sure all of our veterans are seated first. If anyone has photos of family members who are serving or have served we would be proud to acknowledge those individuals by putting their photos in our display case as you enter our building. We will take care of the photos and return them promptly. Please drop photos off or send in with your student.
Student Council
Congratulations to our new student council officers. Please welcome: President— Leland Korona; Vice President—Kloe Bennett; Secretary—Skyler Fuller; Treasurer—Blake Sulkey; Parliamentarian—Marquis Cullen. Thank you to all who ran for office. You are to be commended for running great campaigns and for all your effort.
Penny Wars & Canned Food Collection
The students of GMS will be competing in the Penny Wars November 28th through December 1st, so start saving up! Individual classes are pitted against each other in a friendly competition to raise money to support the Kiwanis Christmas Basket Program. Here is how the competition works: Each class collects its own pennies and nonperishable food items. In addition, each class can put non-penny money in the jars of the competing classes. At the end of the week, each class subtracts the total of the non-penny money from the total of the pennies and food items to determine their point total. The class with the highest point total wins. The money and non-perishable food items are donated to Kiwanis to help fill baskets for local families in need. The classes get very competitive and have a lot of fun supporting this important cause!
Athletics
Girls basketball & wrestling tryouts will begin the week after holiday break.
All student athletes must have a current physical on file in the GMS office in order to participate.
