WMS Weekly Warrior

May 30, 2023

Good Morning WMS,

We hope you enjoyed the extended weekend and the beautiful weather. Friday, the students were treated to an activity day to show everyone’s appreciation for their hard work during the May testing schedules. Testing can be stressful on students, and we appreciate everyone, in and out of school, who supports our students during this time.

As we get closer to the end of the school year, field trips and other end-of-the-year activities will take place. To be eligible for these special events, students must be in good standing behaviorally and academically. Students who cannot adhere to our school expectations of being respectful, responsible, and having good relationships, will not be eligible for these events. We encourage you to speak to your student and discuss eligibility expectations. The Administration will have the final say on whether a student is eligible for end-of-the-year activities.

Parents, please remind students that cell phones are not to be carried around during the school day. Cell phones must be kept in locked lockers at all times. Students should not be receiving calls or texts during the day. Please see the excerpt from the WMS handbook regarding cell phone usage. Smartwatches may not be used for texting during the day. If students are texting during the day, watches may also have to be taken.

On Wednesday of last week, 6th and 7th-grade students were introduced to their electives for the next school year. We ask that you discuss this with your student and have them complete their UA selection by Wednesday of this week. Students who do not complete their UA selections will receive UA classes selected for them. Click this link to view the UA course Catalog and the Slide Show Presentation.

The online link to order yearbooks is now closed. If you haven’t ordered a yearbook and still wish to purchase one, please send a payment of $35 to Mrs. Effes in the Main Office. Checks can be made payable to Region 14.

Friday, our Parents in the Middle provided an incredible lunch for our staff before our Professional Learning. The food was delicious and plentiful. Thank you to PIM and the families who provided this special event.

Lastly, thank you to our music and art department for the outstanding concert and art show on Wednesday. The halls were full of fantastic art pieces, and the gym was alive with music. Thanks to all who could attend.

Have a great week,

WMS Admin
