St Jerome's Newsletter
Week 5 - Term 2 (Thursday 28 May)
St Jerome’s Primary School acknowledges and pays respect to the Traditional Owners and Elders, both past and present, of the lands on which this school is located.
Dear Parents and members of our school community
Two important pieces of information to share with you today.
1. ACARA stands for Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority and is the Federal body responsible for curriculum across all Australian schools. They have informed schools that the mid year school reports for primary students will be modified from the normal format.
"The delivery of teaching and learning in Semester 1, 2020 has been severely disrupted by COVID-19. The report will provide information about each student's progress to date and their engagement with the content presented for remote learning."
The report will focus mainly on English, Mathematics and Religious Education and students will receive "above standard", "at standard" and "working towards standard". Additionally teachers will write a general comment at the end of each report.
2. I am again holding Kindy enrolment interviews. If the families come after the students have left, I am able to show them around the school.
I love the stories around the 85 year old history of St Jerome's and often I discover that the family is following in a tradition of many other relatives coming here. I would love you to let me know if you have an elderly relative who came here in the early 1950's or earlier!
Additionally, families seek to come here on the recommendation of their neighbours or work colleagues. This is where our students are our finest advertisement. When your neighbour sees your children smartly dressed in their uniform and also hears how beautifully behaved they are, they are very impressed.
Please continue to encourage your family and friends to consider joining our very dynamic, friendly and caring school.

Student Councillors Making a Difference at St Jerome's
At Lunch time yesterday the Student Councillors put on a Cosmic Yoga session in the hall for our year 1 and 2 students. The children had a wonderful time and we were so proud of our Student Councillors who organised it all so beautifully! At lunch time today the Student councillors were organising a Kahoot for the year 5 and 6 Students. Next week the Student Councillors are organising a lunch time activity for our Year 3 & 4 students.
Our awesome Student Councillors held a Kahoot for our year 5 and 6 students at lunchtime today and even finished off with some Yoga led by Sophie and one of our year 2 students. Everyone had a great time and Katelyn R was the overall winner. The Student Councillors are organising more lunch time activities for next week.

Play in May - Week 4
Has your family invented your very own game? Maybe you play a version of Guess Who where you only describe the players by what foods you think they like? Or perhaps (like our Communications Manager) you designed a childhood game where you and your sister substituted the letter “M” at the beginning of every word when you spoke? (Mit meally mrove mour Mother mrazy!) Or maybe you like to run down the stairs followed closely by a wild yoga ball, like The Raiders game invented by the Heelers on our favourite kids show, Bluey?
We’d love to hear about your wild and wonderful games you’ve created! Don’t have a family game? Then we challenge you to spend the week coming up with your very own game, create a Rules Sheet (just like the real thing!) and share pictures or videos of your game with us, through our Invent Your Own Game Facebook Event.
