SHS Weekly Newsletter #32
4/28/23
Message from Mr. Mitchell
Hello sun!!! These past few days have been great around the building with the warmer and sunnier weather! Without fail, one of the best parts of every sunny day is the migration of students to the outside areas at lunch. The extra vitamin D while everyone relaxes and eats, has an incredibly positive effect!
With the warmer weather, we'd like to send a quick reminder about our dress code for all of our students. Please see page 17 of our SSD Student Handbook if you have any questions about what may be acceptable clothing at school. We find ourselves facing dress code issues with all genders of students and would appreciate any parental/guardian support that everyone can provide.
Finally, our parking/pick-up situation has improved since our newsletter last week. Thank you very much for your help and please continue to do so!
Have a great weekend, and Go Bowmen!
Mr. Mitchell

Emergency Drills (April 24-May 5)
All schools in our District will be participating in emergency drills April 24-May 5. For this third and final round of drills for this school year, we will be practicing the "Lockdown" protocol.
These drills are an essential part of our emergency preparedness, and help students and staff to practice specific protocols that would occur in an emergency situation. Practice drills such as these are also an opportunity for our administrators and staff to collaborate with the Sherwood Police Department. You may notice increased police presence if you are on/near campus during our lockdown drill, as SPD officers do participate in these drills.
During a Lockdown drill, staff and students are secured within their individual classrooms/offices, and there is no movement in the building. No one will be allowed to enter or exit the campus until the drill has been completed.
For more information on District emergency response protocols and communication, please visit the SSD website here.
