Planbook Lesson Plan Requirements
Adrian and I are looking for the following components:
- The standard(s) you are teaching for the week.
- The DAILY learning goal you set for your students (What you want students to KNOW, UNDERSTAND, or be able to DO each day) An example of this is "Students will be able to. ."
- The daily formative assessment you will use to see if students mastered the daily objective.
You can add more if you'd like, but these are the 3 things we'd like to see in your daily plans.
Let us know what questions you have.

Securing a Sub
1. See Dawn in person for planned absences.
2. Then, you MUST request time off in Skyward FIRST; cc Angie Temple on the request.
3. Be sure to add a description for the absence and click the button that says you need a sub.
4. After you hit save, it will take you directly to the substitute site, where you will enter your phone number and pin .
5. An email from ESS was sent to you in July with your usernames and pin #. New teachers were set up when they were entered into Skyward.
6. See your email for a "Tips" sheet from ESS that gives step by step instructions for securing a sub.
Fundraising Procedures
Please remember you MUST turn in a fundraiser request BEFORE you begin raising ANY money for ANY items for your classroom. This includes Donors Choose.
Donors Choose Fundraising information:
- This can be a great resource. It does not involve receiving any funds through the books since materials are sent directly to the school once the campaign is funded.
- If the campaign is not completely funded, things can get complicated.
- Familiarize yourself with the website below
Donors Choose Tips
- Smaller requests are likely to get funded quickly. In fact, projects under $200 have a 90% chance of being funded, while projects over $1000 are funded only about 43% of the time.
- If your project expires without full funding, the points that you used to post your project will be returned to your account so that you can try again.
Tough Tuesday/Tutoring
We will begin Tough Tuesday/Tutoring on 8/20. This after school program serves a dual purpose: Tutoring - for anyone who wants to attend; Consequence - for accumulated tardies. Adrian has a few names of teachers interested in working for extended contract hours. If you haven't let him know you want to work, please let him know this week.
Online Referrals and Forms
As a reminder, we are using online forms (not paper) for the Discipline Referral and Bullying Report. Tardies are tracked through Skyward - no need for a paper or online referral for tardies. Forms, Handbooks, and other information can be found on our SHS Faculty SharePoint Site.
Cell Phone infractions are still using the paper / carbon copy system utilizing Stacey in the office.
Student Advisory
We will be having Advisory again this year, and we know it can be incredibly valuable with the right structure and access in place. If you are interested in being on the committee, please fill out this form. The committee will make decisions regarding structure and program so we can maximize our potential with Advisory. We will likely meet a couple of times here in the beginning, but that's pretty much it!
