Weirton Elementary School
2022-2023
August-September Family Newsletter
Dear WES Families,
We are looking forward to continuing our goal of "Every Student Matters, Every Moment Counts" by providing a strong foundation for learning and "whole child" growth.
"Hope Grows Here" is our theme for the 2022-2023 school year. Families are invited to write their hopes and dreams for the school year on our HOPE Board during grade level orientations. Hearing about your hopes and dreams will help us to build stronger connections between families, students, teachers, and school. Positive relationships and strong connections are at the core for successful teaching, learning, and growth.
Weirton Elementary School seeks to provide a variety of opportunities to support a positive environment that nurtures family-school partnerships, learning, and growth. Not only does Weirton Elementary offer grade level family involvement activities, but our dedicated Parent Teacher Association also provides many opportunities for families to support student learning and growth.
School attendance and on time arrival are essential for school success. As we approach the beginning of an exciting new school year, we encourage families to ease children back into strong bedtime routines and time schedules that will nourish healthy habits for school success.
Class Dojo is an important tool at Weirton Elementary for communication between administration, teacher, and families. Once enrolled at WES, please watch for a link to join the WES Dojo School Story.

They may be published in order to positively recognize students and share learning experiences. These materials may be posted online, television, and print media outlets including names and photographs. Please contact the school IN WRITING within 10 calendar days of receiving this statement if you DO NOT want your child’s picture or name to ever appear online, in the newspaper, or TV.
Importance of Student WVEIS Identification Number
Hancock County School utilizes the students’ student WVEIS identification number for a variety of reasons throughout the schools. For example, the students will utilize this number to log into technology tools and applications. The students will also be utilizing this number this school year for breakfast and lunch distribution. Students will enter their last five (5) numbers of their student WVEIS number into a key pad as they go through the food service line. (Student breakfast and lunch will remain free for all students this school year) It is very important that students practice this number at home and memorize it as they will use this information throughout their academic career. We will also work on student memorization of this number at school.
