Please bring and put in the trophy case:
-4 x 6 or 5 x 7 framed photo of your family, pet and/or vacation adventures.

Welcome Linda Hosman!!! [SVE's new BIST Consultant]
Linda Hosman is excited to be the BIST Consultant at Sunset Valley! She currently serves at Hazel Grove, Richardson & Woodland, as well. She is an expert in this field!
Linda shared with Greg and I that she truly looks forward to getting to know each of you & working together to support students!
These are the dates that Linda will be here (They do not match Vision Team meeting dates, as they have in the past): 8/24, 9/20, 10/24, 11/30, 1/31, 2/8, 3/25, 4/18, 5/16
Who you gonna call?!? Bus Drivers! ;) 816-986-4BUS
Please note, another phone number has been added for PARENTS/GUARDIANS that need to reach transportation. This has been done in an effort to leave their main phone number clear for internal calls from building staff who need to reach them. This outside number is the one that will be publicized on the district website and in all communication moving forward.
The new number is 816-986-4BUS
That is 816-986-4287
Thank you to Keith and the Transportation Department for working with us to make this better for parents and staff!
Tier 1 Behavior Focus:
Hallways:
-Transition Voices are at a zero.
-Arrival/Dismissal Voices are at 0-3.
-Follow the building ROAR Matrix; which will also be posted on the hallway walls.
Dismissal:
-After observing afternoon dismissal the past two years, best practice will be for each classroom teacher to walk their students to the buses. The car rider room has been moved to the front of the building to expedite dismissal and keep track of students.
Other thoughts on walking students to the buses:
-Student safety/Liability
-Walking students to the buses fits with crisis plan. If/when we have to relocate students immediately once we are outside, this can be done in a safe and effective manner with students in their lines, with their teacher, etc. If we continue with our current practice, and a crisis event occurred, it would not go well. Please let me know if you have questions.
Thank you for your time and focus on Hallways & Dismissal to ensure safety and efficiency for our students!
Compass Connections
"Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results."– Andrew Carnegie
This year, I plan to share some insight from two books that will continue to provide direction for our staff through the school year. Both of these books/authors also CONNECT to the LSR7 Instructional COMPASS (hence, the title...ha!)
The Innovator's Mindset: Empower Learning, Unleash Talent, and Lead a Culture of Creativity by: George Couros
-Relevant, Personalized
-Creativity, Critical Thinking
-Choice, Experience
-Achievement, Equity
Each one of these points of focus, requires SVE to explore, examine, and reshape the way our students learn now and for the future! Is SVE future-ready?!
AND...
The Energy Bus by: Jon Gordon
-Authentic, EACH student
-Communication, Collaboration
-Feedback, Environment
-Well-being, Culture
Each one of these points of focus, requires SVE to fuel our vision with positive energy and enthusiasm! How do we continue to bring more energy and joy to the work we do? How do we show love to our SVE passengers (students and staff)?
