Week at Windsor 9.22.19
Looking back and ahead at Windsor news and happenings...
Dear Windsor Families,
We hope the rainy weather is not dampening your weekend! Here is our Week at Windsor.
Wildcat Way
As we settle into the month of September, we continue to reinforce the Wildcat Way. One of the settings where we continue reinforce expectations is recess.
Be Kind
Take turns.
Everyone plays.
Play fairly.
Invite friends sitting on the Buddy Bench to play.
Use kind words.
Be Safe
Follow all adults’ directions the first time.
Stay within playground/school boundaries.
Use equipment properly and safely.
No overly physical play: fighting, kicking, hitting, pushing, capturing, etc.
Be Responsible
Put equipment away.
Line up when the bell rings.
Walk quietly into the building.
Be a good sport.
Try to solve the problem first by yourself.
Find an adult if there is a problem that you cannot solve.
Adults should listen to the student’s problem and try to help.
… because you are important!

Newly Tenured Teachers
On Thursday, our Board of Education recognized all newly tenured teachers. Congratulations to Ms. Kristina Krueger and Ms. Kelly Loch on entering their fifth year at Windsor and achieving tenure status. We are so happy they are part of the Windsor family!
Cell Phones and Smart Watches
The possession and use of smartphones, cell phones, and other electronic devices (including smartwatches) are subject to the following rules:
- They must be kept out of sight and in an inconspicuous location, such as a backpack, purse, or locker.
- They must be turned off during the regular school day, unless the supervising teacher grant permission for them to be used or if needed during an emergency.
- They may not be used in any manner that will cause disruption to the educational environment or will otherwise violate student conduct rules.
Here are some Common Sense Media links to support families as you consider or introduce electronic devices to your children.

After School Pick Up/Supervision
We want to remind everyone that we have adult supervision during our dismissal/after school pick up time from 3:35 PM to 3:45 PM. All parents/guardians should plan to pick up their children during this window of time. If students are still outside at 3:45 PM, either supervisors will accompany them to the office or they are instructed to report to the school office to ensure safety. Our school office closes at 4:00 PM. While we understand there are unique circumstances, we will reach out if we see a consistent pattern of children being picked up after 3:45 PM because you are leaving them unsupervised.
Windsor Drive
Thank you to everyone for your support during drop-off and pick-up times. It is great to see so many Windsor families each day helping our students safely enter and exit the school.
Many of our previous reminders have been around drop-off. Here are some important pick-up reminders for Windsor Drive, in particular.
- Students who live west of Windsor should be picked up in the circle drive off of Miner School.
- Students who live east of Windsor should be picked up along Windsor Drive.
- Adults must stay with their cars. Unattended vehicles are not allowed. You must stay with your vehicle or park in our school parking lot, if you plan to get out and accompany younger children to the playground, etc.
- Please pull all the way to the front of the pickup area on Windsor Drive. Do not stop in the middle of the block.
- Once your student is safely loaded, please signal, and carefully pull out of the pickup line.
- Students must cross the street at a crosswalk.
This year, Windsor Drive returns to a 2-way street, even during drop-off/pick-up times. We previously had a "Northbound Only" sign, that no longer exists. We appreciate the work of our Arlington Heights Police Department, but understand that this sign was not enforceable. Village personnel did evaluate our drop-off/pick-up locations and procedures several times last year. They determined that the sign needed to come down during the summer.
We appreciate everyone's cooperation in following our daily procedures and helping others to do so as well.

- If you have joined the Windsor PTA, the Directory App is now live. If you are a member, you can access and use it. (If you are not a member, you can still sign up and join the Windsor PTA!)
- Thanks to all our families who dined at Portillo's last Thursday and supported the Windsor PTA!
- Picture Day is Tuesday, September 24th!
- Fall Harvest Sale Pick-Up is on Thursday, September 26th. Many thanks to all who supported this year's sale!
