Monty Money Winners of the week!
Monty Moments: Haunted Garage
Tigers,
This week I was so lucky to have two special mornings with donuts and smiles with some of our top fundraisers. Thank you so much to the PTO board and members who have made our Fun Run and Events so special for our whole school. It was a great way to start the school year and has brought so much positive energy to our school and community.
Halloween Updates: Our Halloween events will take place on Monday October 31st ( this is a late start Monday) Students will enter the building at 9:05am. Weather permitting we will begin our outdoor parade at 9:15am. We will ask guests to line up outside the building. The parade will start out the front door of Cook Rd. down the front side walk around the blacktop of the playground and back in the 1st grade door. Students will have an Assembly by Basketball Jones at 9:30 and class celebrations will begin after the assembly. Students will be dismissed at 11:36am.

ART NEWS
Art News
After studying portraits of Vincent Van Gogh, second grade students are taking that knowledge and learning about different points of view of portraits. We learned that an artist could create a frontal facing portrait as well as a profile or side view of a person. We are applying this knowledge to create three different snowmen. We read the book “Snowmen at Night” by Caralyn Buehner and Mark Buehner to gain insight as to what activities snowmen liked to do for activities. One of our portraits is a frontal view, another a side view, and the last is our snowman doing a fun activity. We are keeping in mind that the snowman has to have the same appearance in each picture. Experimenting with oil pastels and how they can blend together is our next step in our snowman process!
