Level Up Your Learning for Summer Website
The Olathe School District will launch a Level Up Your Learning website May 17th.
Level Up Your Learning is a website for students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade to engage with key skills through games, activities, and lessons. Students may follow reading and math activities based on recommendations from their teachers or choose their own learning adventure based on their interests (art, music, physical education, science, social studies or reading).
The directions for playing BINGO are on the Level Up Home Page or at the top of the BINGO card. Students will receive a BINGO card from their teacher, but they can also print a copy on the home page of the Level Up website. Here is a direct link to the website: https://www.olatheschools.org/levelup
When choosing math or reading, please note teachers were asked to share a general recommendation based on the grade level Priority Standards outlined HERE.

4th Quarter Report Cards
Kansas and MAP Assessment Reports
For Kansas Assessments, families will be able to access Kansas Assessment Program (state assessments) student reports from the KITE Parent Portal (created by KSDE and the University of Kansas). The Parent Portal will have the results of the 2020-21 spring assessments, as well as all prior assessments taken by the student, including KELPA results. The Olathe Assessment Office has uploaded parent/guardian emails to the KITE system, so family members with emails on file with Olathe will have access to their students’ state assessment results. Schools will not be sending home printed copies of those reports as in years past. Please use the attached set of directions to set up your account and contact the Olathe Assessment Office with any questions (913-780-8168).

News from Nurse Bev
· As our school year is coming to an end, it is time for me to return student medications. If you have provided medication(s) for your child this school year, I will send all DAILY medications home on the last full day (Wednesday, May 19th) and all PRN / as needed medications home on the last half day (Thursday, May 20th) this year with your child. If you would prefer a different method of receiving the medications back, please let me know. Also if your child will be leaving before the last day of school, Thursday, May 20th please let me know so that I can send the med(s) home early. Medications cannot be left at school over the summer for safety reasons.
· I will need new doctor’s orders for the 2021-2022 school year for student medications. I will be sending a copy of the Olathe District Medication Order form and/or the order form for anaphylaxis emergency medication if needed, home with your child’s meds. You may use these forms or a form/prescription order form/school orders provided by your child’s doctor as the medication order for the next school year.
· Fifth grade parents – as your child/children prepare to move on to Middle School lots of new opportunities will be coming their way. One of these choices may be participation in team sports representing their Middle School and in a very short three years their High School. There will be Olathe District sports participation guidelines that will need to be followed and all school team sports are also governed by KSHSAA (Kansas State High School Athletic Association) regulations. A yearly sports physical is one of the requirements and must be on file with the School Nurse at your child’s school prior to the start of the first official day of practice for the sport. KSHSAA has a specific Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation and Concussion and Head Injury Information Release Form (packet) that needs to be completed and signed each year. The KSHSAA physical must be done after May 1st of the current school year to be good for the following school year. This form/packet is available on the KSHSAA website https://www.kshsaa.org/. I will also be sending a copy of the form/packet home with your fifth grade student during the week of May 17th. I strongly encourage you to make a sports physical appointment early this year especially if your child has an interest in sports and is wanting to continue his/her sports career in both Middle and High School. Most health insurance policies only allow 1 physical per year. So planning ahead for the possibility of needing a yearly physical for the next 7 years, you will want to have plenty time each summer to get a physical done before the first official day of a fall sports practice which is often in August. Please return the KSHSAA physical form/packet to the school nurse at the Middle School your child will be attending for the 2021-2022 school year. **Fifth grade remote parents, I will have a copy of the KSHSAA physical form/packet available on the return dates for your child’s Technology devices here at Manchester Park on May 20th or 21st.
· And finally, if you have any gently used shorts or pants, boys or girls, that no longer fit your child and you are looking to donate them, my “Spare Clothes Closet” is running low on all sizes starting at size 4 through size 14-16/XL!!
Wishing everyone a safe and healthy summer!!!
