Writing
Power of the red pen. We use our red pens when we are in the revising stage in writing. We reread our stories and then make any changes in red to make our stories more exciting.
Math Fluency
Making flashcards and practicing with our friends helps us learn our facts.
Reading/Writing
We are finishing up our unit on biographies. We used our reading block to read about famous people and we used our writing time to write about them.

Dress Rehearsal
The program was sooooo amazing. We are so proud of our first graders! If they were a bit nervous, we could not tell!
Gingerbread Break out boxes
Mrs. Sayre set up a break out session using locked boxes and the children had to work together to figure out the combinations to get clues for the next box!
Step 1
Students had to solve math problems to get the combination for their next clue.
Step 2
Students had to figure out how to match the gingerbread men. They had rhyming words on them. Many were trying to sort by category or by beginning sounds.
Step 3
Students were given a black light to find letters on the back of the gingerbread cards. Then they had to to figure out what word the letters made to open the last box. The children received a gingerbread eraser as their prize!
