Wilson's Weekly
April 1-5, 2019
Math
Monday, we will draw number lines to help us compare two fractions to see which one is more. Tuesday & Wednesday, the students will learn how to recognize & shade equivalent or equal fractions. Thursday, we'll practice writing improper fractions, a fraction that is greater than 1 whole. Friday, the students will be given one fraction and be asked to create another fraction that is equivalent or equal to it.
Reading
This week, we will be reading two fiction stories, discussing the characters' traits, identifying the setting, pinpointing the theme, and recounting the plot. Friday, we will compare & contrast the setting, plot, and theme of the two stories.
Writing, Science, & Spelling
This week, I will model for the students how to write their summary paragraphs. Each paragraph will include a main idea sentence, 5 supporting facts, & a closing sentence. The students will then write summary paragraphs about their animal's natural habitat, diet, plant & water features found in their habitat, and their adaptations needed for survival.
Our Spelling Unit this week is a review unit. We will be going over words containing aw or o, r-controlled vowels, and homophones.
